Rising Stars: Meet Alexa Glazer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Glazer.

Alexa Glazer

Hi Alexa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
If I stand far enough back, I can see that my story starts from a period of grief and has continued through a lifelong pursuit and choice of mine to heal and to share that healing with others.

Almost 10 years ago, I lost my dad. In the midst of losing him and my grief, I did everything I could to keep his legacy alive while cultivating a legacy of my own. During this time, my mentor told me to write. He shared with me that writing is physical proof of where I am, where I was, and where I am going. I began to fall in love with the sacred practice of writing and at least sharing my feelings with myself.

Eventually, I decided to write something with intention, and in doing so, that became the first chapter of my first book, “Livin’ the dream today because tomorrow is not promised …” At the time, I felt like no one could possibly understand what it felt like to be a 21-year-old living on the other side of the country unexpectedly losing my dad. The more I shared my story, the more I realized MANY people are losing loved ones, and MANY people think no one else understands. I wrote my first book so that people could find hope and feel less alone in their grief and their life as a whole.

Why Livin’ the dream? That saying was my dad’s motto, and it quickly became mine at the time. I was writing my book, I created a movement, sold shirts hats, and created videos asking complete strangers what livin’ the dream meant to them in their lives, and began my speaking career to sports teams, conferences, and schools.

Years after publishing my first book I sold everything I owned and decided to live in a van traveling the country alone to experience more of life (and unknowingly run away from my problems). What a learning experience that season of life was. I traveled until the start of Covid, where I then decided to write my second book, “Your Permission Slip.” A vulnerable book about my healing.

Since then, I write books + poetry, facilitate reflective experiences helping people understand themselves deeper, and practice unconditional love.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Never. Because the topics I write about and share are so deeply related to my inner self — the lessons and ideas are constantly changing. I am ever-evolving, and there is so much to learn.

Many people have not understand why I do what I do, and I have had to remind myself that it is not about proving people wrong but proving myself right.

Having a dream to speak in front of large audiences, write books, and overall help cultivate change and perspective in people’s lives is not a “cheap” dream. Financially I have had so many ups and downs to fulfill this deep need in myself to serve others.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a speaker, writer, and guide.

I have self-published two books:

Livin’ the dream today because tomorrow is not promised (also on audible)

Your Permission Slip: To Self-Acceptance, Forgiveness, and Letting Go With Grace (also on Spotify)

I had a podcast Chasing Alignment for 3 years and a forthcoming podcast called me/you/us/we.

I’m known for being the stranger that will be your best friend in 30 seconds and helping people become more curious about themselves and their life in a way that feels safe and honest. I don’t ask others without asking myself first. I help people think internally first rather than externally.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
We must look internally before we look externally. In other words, having loving awareness. For example, you can’t understand others if you don’t understand yourself. You can’t love others if you don’t love yourself. You can’t serve others when you aren’t serving yourself. We simply don’t know how. How could we? We must learn to get curious with ourselves – how and why we do the things that we do has been a complete game-changer. Bonus points when you do it with love.

Pricing:

  • Livin’ the dream today because tomorrow is not promised $17
  • Your Permission Slip $18
