Exploring Life & Business with Jennifer Laurello of Laurello Vineyards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Laurello.

Jennifer Laurello

Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We started making wine in 2001 and opened the winery in 2002. Our grandfather started a winery in the 1940s in ashtabula, so to complete the life circle, we continued in his honor and opened Laurello Vineyards.

When we first began, we purchased grapes just from our local growers in the area. We then decided to plant 5 acres of wine grapes. As we continued to grow through hard work, passion, and the love of wine- Laurello Vineyards is what it is today 21 years later. Laurello Vineyards is where old friends meet and new friends gather.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not. Starting a new business is a challenge; between purchasing equipment, repairing equipment that broke, renovating, and the challenges Mother Nature gives us each year, we are confronted with many obstacles in making fine wine.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Laurello Vineyards is boutique cantina nestled in the Grand River Valley, in Geneva, Ohio. We are well known for our award-winning red and white dry wines, our wood-fired pizzas, and homemade meatballs (grandmothers’ recipe). We are also are a family owed and operated business; we strive to make each and every customer who walks in our door part of our family. We are very lucky with our amazing staff and customers.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
Yes of course, with organization, and structured plan, and teamwork, we were very successful in executing a safe and welcoming atmosphere for our customers to enjoy.
