Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Ellis. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Though Michelle McMannen Ellis has always loved weddings, she never dreamed she’d be the owner of one of Virginia Peninsula’s leading bridal gown shops, McEllis Brides Design Studio. She started out renting pre-owned wedding gowns in 2013. It wasn’t long before Michelle’s business grew, and she was fielding requests for custom wedding gowns. Michelle rose to the challenge by pivoting her small rental business into McEllis Brides Design Studio to offer a full suite of custom wedding dress services.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve certainly encountered bumps in the road. The most reoccurring challenge is knowing where to invest marketing dollars. It changes from year to year.

McEllis Brides has been published in several magazines… Coastal Virginia, Beyond Beauty, and Williamsburg Bridal Guide to name a few. They have also won Wedding Wire’s Couples Choice Awards 5 years running and won Best Place to Buy a Wedding Gown 4 years running.
