Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Conforti and Gina Scordos.
Hi Jenna and Gina, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
We met at a photoshoot in Little Italy, Cle – Jenna was a model, and I was the creative director – all the models were playing it safe until Jenna brilliantly ignited the situation by digging her bare hands into bowls of pasta and feeding it to the others. From there, we had a connection that sparked creative collaboration between us and ultimately led to the start of “Contrast High.” We began as an experiment utilizing Gina’s design sense and Jenna’s passion to create experiences – we planned art-driven events that were much more than an excuse to party; they were thought-provoking concepts, fearless ideas, immersive installations, impeccable execution that resulted into unforgettable experiences for all that attended. Today is no different, only we’ve expanded into a multi-disciplinary, independently owned design studio.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. There have definitely been ups and downs, and in the end, we are just as grateful for the struggles as we are for the celebrations. Anything worth doing is never smooth – There can be no “good” without “bad”; it’s really a testament to our name, “Contrast High” and why we do what we do. Process is always greater than the product – so no matter what it took, we are where we are now because of it ALL.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
That’s the magic question! Everything that we do is guided by this manifesto: “To raise consciousness, create beauty, cultivate community, and elevate experience.” Great taste, unconventional ideas, and a passion for humans is really what sets us apart from others. And our friendship, we both regard each other in the same way we do ourselves. As artists, it’s easy to let ego get in the way of others’ expression. However, we have found that letting go and allowing freedom of expression is what empowers us both and what really creates the synergy or MAGIC – it’s all really challenging for others to understand, and that is ok.
We are most proud of our faith in it all – our perseverance to keep going, to enjoy life, and above all, to trust that God has put us where we are to connect to others through our art and messaging. The intention has always been to inject purpose in all that we do and to be a reflection of (the ultimate creator) God.
What makes you happy?
Happiness is so subjective – so many things make us happy; exploring, stumbling upon something new – expressing an idea – seeing a person in a shirt that we made – great conversation – spirituality – empowering and impacting others
