Exploring Life & Business with Nadia Yacoub of PersonalHour

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Yacoub.

Nadia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I would like to start by some inspiring quotes that shaped my way of doing business
– “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”
– “Do the right thing to build trust.”
– “The only way to do great work is to love what you do”

Value, Trust and Love are always my main drivers to accomplish anything in life, and work is just one of the life essentials to me.

I grew up in a very busy and stressful lifestyle and culture. From school to college to work and then family commitments.

I belong to the technology sector and for more than 20 years all my career focus was in building technology products.

Being in a busy life with a lot of commitments, I was always searching for ways to keep my balance and to be able to focus and achieve my goals.

Yoga and Pilates for one hour a week, helped me to achieve better results.

So, one hour weekly is my Personal Hour, that made me more successful, happier, and more balanced.

I want to help other people to get the best and reach a balanced body and mind.

I founded and invested in PersonalHour by using technology and business knowledge especially e-commerce (being X-Amazon). And the passion for yoga, Zen and pilates. And that was the beginnings of personalhour.com.

After a while, I found that the US market is missing good quality pilates reformers machines in affordable prices (The current brands are so expensive)

I started to invest in manufacturing the pilates machines. The first model was designed and developed by my father, and I named the pilates reformer, The Janet, after my mother’s name. (My mother is the main tester of the machines).

Now we are in continuous research and development to create even better pilates reformers with affordable prices and creative features.

We are in the process of developing a SMART pilates reformer to allow beginners to learn Pilates without the need of a personal trainer. (Smart Zous Home Pilates Reformer)

With all that I do, I care about making sure the quality is high, and the price is affordable.

I always put myself in the shoes of the customer and use the product before selling it!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The business is not profitable yet, as I am investing in research and development, and the margin is so low to give good prices. The main challenge I am in right now is how to make a better margin without increasing the price to the end customer. (Value first).

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
My role is to make sure that we have 100% happy customers, reaching their balance without the need to spend a lot of money! I don’t get involved in the operations as much as I get involved in the customer’s satisfactions and pricing.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?

The best is : The people here are so amazing

The least is: The weather.
