Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Davis.
Hi Danielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hi, my name is Danielle, and I’m a Cleveland makeup artist. I feel in love with makeup at a young age. I was 12 years old, playing in eyeshadow and lipstick. I would watch YouTube videos of how to do a smokey eye look. I grew up watching my Aunties wear makeup. I would ask my parents to buy me makeup, and they were always supportive of me wearing makeup. Once I got to high school, I started to wear makeup more and more. One day my sister asked me to do her makeup for your birthday, and at that moment, I decided I would become a makeup artist.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One challenge I’ve faced was being consistent with posting my makeup content to attract more clients. I have a hard time posting makeup content because I forget to take pictures of my work. Another challenge I’ve faced was building clientele. Building clientele is not easy, you have to show customers you’re the right person for the job.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Makeup artist. I started doing makeup in 8th grade. In middle school, I was doing my makeup for fun and fell in love with it. As I got older and with more practice people use to ask me to do their makeup. My brand name come from my Instagram account. When I was in 6th grade, I made an Instagram account and called myself Ogdandan, dandan comes from my first name Danielle, and Og is just something I made up. I decided to name my brand that because all throughout high school, people would call me Og because of my Instagram name, so you can say I was little popular. I’m proud of the steps I’ve taken to become a successful makeup artist.
What do you think about luck?
I don’t luck has played a role. I feel like I’ve worked very hard to get where I am today.
