Conversations with Jennifer Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Chandler.

Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have being doing comedy for over 20 years in the Pennsylvania and Ohio region. It started with me losing my job and battling with depression when a friend of mine suggested I move to Pittsburgh and regroup. I was then introduced to Emmy-winning Stephon Braxton, who gave me my start in Comedy since then, I studied research went to comedy conventions such as Comics Rock convention, where I met my mentor Hope Flood who taught me to make my comedy a business. I founded Jen Jen funny enterprises in 2019, where I help other artist and youth find bookings, get comfortable with public speaking, and how to make contracts, ext.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been hard, especially being a woman in a male-dominated field. I have quit started again, but I’ve always kept good relationships with other artists and promoters. Not to mention almost two years ago, I was in a horrible car accident while filming my first film now featured on Tubi Y’all not laughing yet, where I had to walk all over again. My strength and perseverance have gotten me this far even battling depression. Without a test, there is no testimony, so I wouldn’t change my story for anything.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
In my everyday life, I work for an appeals company that helps patient get more time in rehab. I’ve always loved helping people; my dreams and goals are to be the highest-paid female comedian and producer of other artists such as Comics, poets, singers, rappers, actors. I’m known for always helping other artists and being positive. I’m most proud of being the first female to host and headline at the Karamu house the oldest African American playhouse in the world. What makes me different is that I don’t male bash, and I have a huge personality that’s infectious that people love.

What do you think about happiness?
Being around family and hitting my goals makes me Happy. I have worked for everything I have, and I’m so proud that nothing was handed to me, and I want to pay it forward.
