Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Rupp.
Hi Dustin, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been obsessed with music my whole life. Growing up, I took guitar lessons, been in band, etc. I started recording myself in middle school on a tape recorder, that initiated my interest in the recording aspect of making music. I self-taught all throughout high school. I started recording all myself as well as my friends. After school, I went to school for audio engineering. I always used music and songwriting as an escape. I suffer from depression and anxiety and always have, and music is my escape. I performed on the same stages as mgk, Twista, Vaughn Stephens, and a few other big-name artists in the past. I stepped away from music for a while after having a family and neglecting my dreams. I’ve recently started where I left off in music working on all new stuff. I go by the name MRTN937. I released my first single in years on Spotify Dec. 1, 2022, New Day Ft. Caskey. It’s just hot over 30k on Spotify, and I have my next single planned to release Feb 27, 2023, Black Cat Ft.115jai
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It is hard struggling with my depression and anxiety sometimes; I get too hard on myself and lose motivation in everything in life.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hip-hop artist. I write songs that are emotionally inspired. My songs are crispy and always have meaning behind them.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Never stop, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t do whatever dreams you have.
