Daily Inspiration: Meet Happy LYNX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Happy LYNX.

Happy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Okay, so boom I came out as happy LYNX on October 7th, 2022 at South bend Taverns Fearless Friday Open it was something that was long overdue actually I had already been happy LYNX in the living room for over a year and a half just didn’t believe in myself enough to start performing and didn’t have the confidence that was needed at the time to do so.

To be quite truthful, if it wasn’t for my Drag Mom Heaux’tell Onassis Happy LYNX probably would have never came to being simply because of my own fear and self-doubt. Her constant love and trying to push me and show me that I could do this on my own as well really saw me through my depression at the time in the first place.

Moving forward 28 Days later I did a benefit for my drag mom in honor of her going to Miss Gay Ohio America on November 4th, 2022. This was the very first time that I was on any flyer As Happy lYNX and also the very first time on District West stage and the space there was electrifying for me as a performer to this day!!! The video that was posted as a reel on my Facebook is the highest viewed video at over 4,000 views.

After going to Open Stage every single Friday at South Bend for quite a few weeks, I decided to start doing open stages other than South Bend and my first time being on Districts West open stage Mondays. I won November 21, 2022, 45 days into the birth of Happy Lynx!! Krystal Something Something was the host!!! Such a fresh experience I can’t put into words!!! It was the best feeling ever!!!

To be honest, it was a validation I didn’t think I knew I needed.

For 3 weeks after that, I attended every open stage at District and was in the top three of each open stage at District West!

In the midst of that, I was offered to hotspot for one my most favorite productions of all time MELANATED by Robyn DaCulture for December 9th, 2022!!! I was so happy to be part of their production!!! All-black QUEER cast!!! Best dressing room experience ever!!!

I then won the final 4th week into as well at District West 12/12/2021!!! With Maya Bizness as the Host!!!

What’s crazy is that day is very special to me it is my parents’ anniversary who are still together and also the death date of one of my most loved original supporters my grandmother and so this was really like a big deal for me and so many different ways cuz I really was having a lot of emotions on that day secretly so I was very happy to have won open Stage that day. I know she sees me!!!

Since then, life has been beautiful. I got my very first booking with Mo Khaos for the Santa bad girls club on 12/12/2022 at Ace of Cups And it was so much fun!!! It was the best to hang out with some fun performers I love!!!

On 12/19/2022 I was offering the honor to share space with one of the most adored iconic and my absolute favorite drag queen of all time Mikayla Denise at Axis For “CHURCH” hosted By The forever Queen Ava Aurora Foxx And the Iconic beauty Zhané Every Sunday at 11 pm I WAS MORE EXCITED THAN THE CROWD TO BE APART OF IT LOL she literally is the most beautiful fun infectious people I have ever met in my life she is literally a drag coach for me she opens my mind up to so many different things it’s crazy!!!

I finished 2022 at the very first place that I started which was South Bend Tavern on December 30th, 2022, at the last open stage of the year With Miss Jennifer Lynn as the Host I had an amazing time with so many people that I’ve met over the course of time being Happy LYNX!!! I was very grateful and very happy to even be at that Open Stage, particularly just because it made me realize how happy and Full I was that I decided to finally be Happy LYNX after all!!

2023 is already blessing me with opportunities to perform with some of my favorite people in this world so honored to finally be living the dream that I am always wanted to have.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say it was the smoothest road but it wasn’t super bumpy either I mean I had issues with personal life that constantly was trying to get in the way but I did not let it detour me I continued to just push forward ignoring the people who didn’t believe to me and focused on my art form and it has paid off so much!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My creative niche that sets me apart from others is that I have my own lane I am an urban burlesque performer and I do things in my own way. I am extremely flexible which I love to do in my performances all the time, and I feel the music I’m performing I am the music. another thing that sets me apart is that I’m extremely positive in all forms in fact I’m so positive that I know my kindness rubs off on people and they can’t help to be nice to me.

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
I feel like risk-taking is essential as a performer if you don’t take risks and step out of your comfort zone then you don’t know how far you can really go as a performer every day has to be a constant push into a new direction and doing something that you never done before and even with the buildup and the anxiety is sometimes create you have to focus and take the risk anyway because the reward ends up being so much sweeter
