Meet Jackie Bean of Well Bean

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Bean.

Hi Jackie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
15 years ago, I found myself living a life that was exhausting and unfulfilling. I was moving at an unhealthy pace. I prioritized everyone else over myself, I relied heavily on alcohol. I was tired, stressed, and unhappy. I was ready for change. I found my path to wellness by slowing down and listening to my body. I paid close attention to how food impacted me.

On long runs and during yoga, I welcomed deep introspection and reflection. I embraced the values of respect, humility, community, and confidence while practicing Muay Thai. As a fighter, I learned about the power of meditation and journaling. I did a lot of difficult work to examine my relationship with alcohol and came to understand who I am without clouded judgment. Over many years, I slowly made changes to my habits, routines, mindsets, and relationships.

I spent the first 20 years of my career in non-profit roles that focused on education, professional development, and coaching adults. While these roles and social impact fulfilled me, my change journey continued to lead me to ponder a career shift to the wellness field. Friends and family asked me for exercise and food advice. I led small group workouts for my coworkers.

I knew in my gut that I wanted to share what I had learned with others. With a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Education, and many years of experience coaching and leading adults, it was a natural progression into wellness coaching. I earned professional certifications in nutrition and personal training and officially launched Well Bean in October 2019.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I launched in October 2019 and the pandemic followed a few short months later. To supplement my business and personal development, I have held a variety of part-time jobs. At the onset of the pandemic, I was working in two different gyms and a restaurant. All three of my jobs and my business closed at the same time in mid-March 2020. I wasn’t able to see clients in person. It was a difficult time as it was for everyone. I began to learn to coach virtually.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a holistic health and wellness coach who works with individuals and couples to create sustainable wellness in their lives. The WellBean Signature Coaching Program is a six-month personalized journey focused on intentionally setting daily habits that lead to a lifelong change.

Coaching touches on healthy habits related to physical activity, food, sleep, stress, and mindfulness. I work with my clients to realize their unique wellness visions for themselves. They set individualized goals that are aligned with their values and their vision. My goal is for clients to walk away with habits and routines that are simple, effective, and bring them joy.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
