Today we’d like to introduce you to Katerina Gershen.
Katerina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, I originally started as a cleaner myself. Actually having grown up with a cleaning service in-home, and my mom actually had been a cleaner herself back around college, it kind of seems “meant to be” now that I look back on it. I myself worked for a few places (that will remain nameless) where there were huge issues of a lack of employee happiness and overall customer satisfaction that I was powerless to do anything about. That caused a career shift away from cleaning for a few years. More recently I was trying to change my career away from various sales positions and I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do. My husband actually suggested I make a business out of something myself since he knew I had a strong work ethic, but a lack of desire to work for someone else.
Previously, when we had attempted to find a cleaning service for our own home, we were very disappointed at the options we came across and the quality of service provided. I had previously created an LLC back in February 2022 that I was trying to navigate. I decided to branch off of that and then I started Signature Cleaning Services. Our DBA is Signature Cleaning Inc, but the official LLC entity is “Signature Consulting Services”. I wanted to keep the “Signature” brand going and in the future branch out with other “Signature” companies. Once I started I just ran with it, all of my previous experience marketing for other jobs helping me launch quickly. Within a month my own personal cleaning schedule was full and I am currently taking on a new employee to begin after the New Year. We focus highly on our client’s word-of-mouth referrals to get new business but also do a bit of social media posting to help keep our client’s attention and post about events or promotions.

There is so much to say about this honestly…. 2022 has been a whirlwind for me in my personal life and this business has really been a grounding point for me. Starting in January and progressing every single month since.
My car windshield got smashed out, various medical issues with my pets, rear-ended by a motorcycle, I had various medical issues with myself, even covid, and more vehicular issues (not at fault)…. then on a more positive note, I had my honeymoon with my husband. Then came home to more medical issues from both myself, and my pets, and even a fire in our attached garage. Then again, more positive note, great Dane puppies were born on Thanksgiving Day!
Now I am just trying to “go with the flow” and really take things as they come. The sheer amount of events that have happened in 2022 has honestly both prepared me for the rocky road of business ahead and helped me realize just how much I want this to succeed! The way I like to look at it is I truly have amazing luck making it out of all of these events relatively unscathed and ready for the next thing.
