Meet Rexx Redd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rexx Redd.

Hi Rexx, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my music journey with poetry at about ages 13-14. I quickly became interested in poetry with music behind it. I.E Hip-Hop. In middle school, I would listen to music all the time and started to secretly write songs in my notebooks. By the time High school came around It went from being a secret to regularly rapping some of my written verses at the lunch table. It would almost be like a full-blown concert in the middle of the cafeteria. There were other things I pursued as well such as basketball skateboarding and I was a very good football player but I hated playing lol. Music was the only thing that stuck with me long-term enough to give me that feeling of accomplishment, or victory when I complete a song or a project.

Unfortunately, life happened for a long time I didn’t have much direction or money. I just knew what tools I needed to deliver the best music I could. Now I’m a lot more organized and I’ve been able to upgrade and cultivate my sound to where I feel like between me and a few others we almost have our own pocket of Hip-Hop throughout the city, and possibly the entire State. I started Redd Dragon Recordings in 2020 as a pre-steps to do what I can to establish myself more within the music culture in Cleveland. My plans are to get myself and my brand as much recognition as possible, work my way up within the music business, and then slowly integrate other artists and types of content.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not one bit! I would say it’s been the bumpiest road I’ve ever driven on.

A major struggle that I had for a while was finding myself within music, as well as learning how to get out of my own way so I can move forward faster. Other obstacles include marketing to the correct audience, and dealing with different types of people and personalities when trying to get things done. And also money, I would say is the biggest obstacle for me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a hip-hop artist, as well as the owner and founder of Redd Dragon Recordings. I would say I’m known mostly for being an artist, I’ve also been told almost my whole life that I’m a very funny person naturally so comedy was a lane I thought about for a while. I think what makes me different from others is my ambition and drive for my music career.

I see people with way less talent and work ethic that gets pushed forward and honestly sometimes it makes me a bit jealous. Not of their success, but of the fact that someone decided to help them grow bigger. That’s a major thing that I have never had much access to and I’m currently seeking that.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open to discussing collaboration on songs or ideas.
