Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Katyal.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am Anita Katyal and my story begins in New Delhi, where it feels like every cuisine in India shares the same street. I was born into a Bihari family, and my mother was my first inspiration in the kitchen. When I married into a Punjabi Family, my mother-in-law became my first real teacher. Our neighbors came from all over India, I grew up tasting so many regional styles and always wondered why each one felt so different.
I studied engineering in India and built a career in IT. When I moved to the United States, cooking began simply as a way to get by. However, soon it turned into joy and passion because of the two people i cook for every day . MY curious daughter Amayra and my husband love good food as much as i do.
During the pandemic, I started exploring different cuisines more seriously, and Herhealthypalate was born in 2021. I never Planned it to grow the way it has. People found something familiar in my food, and today a community of over 350k on Instagram cooks along with me. I am very grateful for each one of them.
What keeps me going is simple wish to take the dishes we all love and make a little healthier. Healthy food never has to be boring. As an instance, my Kids lunchboxes series have become the heart in our little community because every parent wants food their child will happily eat.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. I have always been an introvert, so putting myself out there did not come naturally. In the beginning I hesitated before every post and wondered if anyone would care.
As the page grew, so did the attention, and with it came a lot of advice which i welcomed. Some of it was kind and some of it was hard to hear. Over time I learned to keep what helps me grow and gently let go of the rest.
What carried me through was the love that came back from the community. People write to say recipe helped their family or made a busy week a little easier. Many of those followers have since become friends, and their warmth gave me the courage to keep going. I still feel shy at times, but now I share for them and that makes all the difference.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create quick and easy recipes that are healthy, packed with protein and still full of flavor. Most of my dishes come together with everyday ingredients, because i know how busy life gets and I want food good to feel doable on any weeknight.
A lot of people believe healthy food has to be bland, and I would love to gently change that. Often, it only takes few simple swaps to turn a favorite dish into something lighter and more nourishing without losing what makes it special.
What I am most proud of is hearing from people who tried a recipe and realize healthy eating can be something they enjoy. That is what keeps me going.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
