Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Boywife.

Hi DJ, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Love this story so much actually. Basically I had a twitter mutual for years and years and randomly he posted about having a DJ gig here in Cincinnati. I went and finally got to meet him, but it came with a funny twist. During his set he announced that he would be moving to Texas, to the surprise of everyone including the owners of the club. Maybe 20 minutes later they came up to me and asked if I had ever dj’d before because I “looked the part”. Two weeks later I had my first set there and now 5 years later its all herstory!!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not LOL. A large part of my work centers around my very blatant queerness and it’s obviously not everyone’s cup of tea. From the crossdressing to the makeup to the tracklist I play, It can be a lot for some people to swallow. Promoters have told me I didnt “look” like someone they could work with, try to underpay me, try to sleep with me for the gig, etc etc.

But I would take all of these experiences in exchange for my freedom in getting to express my femininity and my queerness how I see fit. Its my superpower lowkey

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
DJ Boywife baybeeeeee yeah so basically I DJ and throw parties and try to just create the most fun for the most amount of people I can. Im known for the skirts and the “look” but I think it also really resonates with people how much I love what I do. This career is really my dream come true and I think that really translates to the people who have come to my gigs. Im not afraid to look silly or get really sweaty and look a mess because Its FUN and sort of breaks the ice to allow others to do the same. Its my pride and joy getting to give people that feeling night in and night out.

Everything. Everything is my plans
