Hi Carla, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Carla Davis Communications was officially launched in 2020, but I have been a strategic communications consultant for over two decades. My business, CJ Davis Enterprises LLC, founded in 2015, is the umbrella for my two brands, including the communications arm of the business, and Carla Davis Music. I started the consultation services to help individuals and entities to find their authentic “voice.” Every individual and organization has a “voice” and a “tone.” As an experienced communicator (with a Master’s Degree in clinical counseling,) and as professional vocalist, I know how important it is to stay in good vocal shape.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not always been smooth. As with any new business, there are rough patches along the way. They became evident as I incorporated Carla Davis Communications in 2020 during the COVID epidemic, and amid national unrest and protests. Imagine launching a communications business when all of the interactions were online. Fortunately, one of my primary clients was a psychologist who specialized in anxiety disorders/mental health. We worked well together to develop communication strategies that helped to build their brand which, in turn, helped to reduce stress and anxiety to their core audience.

How do you think about happiness?
As a communications expert with decades of experience, a person trained in clinical counseling, and a professional vocalist, I am very cognizant of human emotions and behavior. Communications, counseling, and music are all intrinsically tied to human emotions. I am happy when I know a message – be it branding, music, or therapeutic – creates a positive shift in individuals or culture.
