Daily Inspiration: Meet Princess Ford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Ford.

Hi Princess, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Creating has been a passion in my life since I was a kid. Growing up with interests in different creative projects and exploring new ways to create, I finally picked up photography in high school. I received my first camera and it immediately became my favorite hobby. I started taking photos of anything I could, eventually using my friends and family as models. I started experimenting with lighting, editing and even practiced with self portraits.

Continuing photography, my love, confidence, and skill grew after joining creative and community centered clubs while attending Miami University. I had the opportunity to work on creative teams with a few college organizations. Every project and every team I worked on helped me gain experience, confidence, a better eye, and a greater ability to collaborate. I’ve gained a better understanding of myself and what I wanted to do. I enjoyed being part of a team and creating alongside other creatives.

So now, I am focusing on continuing to build my portfolio more and adding to that creative community I want to be a part of in Cincinnati, expanding my personal brand.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve definitely had some bumps in the road. I believe there are always going to be struggles when building something for yourself especially when it’s just you. I’ve dealt with a lot of doubts from others and from myself, periods with difficulty staying motivated and struggling a little with being an advocate for myself. I’ve struggled the most with getting out there and sharing my work.
Even something as simple as posting my work can be a challenge. As a small creator who is naturally introverted, it can be difficult for me to put myself out there and show people what I have to offer. I’m learning more to create and share my work even when I don’t feel the most confident or motivated. I try to use those doubts as fuel to keep going and to prove my own self doubt wrong. I’m still working on becoming a better advocate for myself and my work, but I’ve come a long way from being afraid.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer based in Cincinnati, Ohio, I specialize in portrait, editorial, and sports photography, with some experience in events. I am most proud of how far I’ve come with my photography. Like I mentioned previously, I have struggled, and still do, with putting myself out there so I am proud of the people I have been able to connect and work with, despite those struggles. I think what sets me apart is my ability to adapt and experiment with my work while giving clients and models the look they desire. I enjoy seeing where things go on shoots, instead of having every small detail and idea planned, although that is helpful. I want the people I work with to feel comfortable bringing their own ideas into the process. I have experience in graphic design as well, which adds another layer to what I can do. It allows me to think beyond basic editing and experiment with how my images look, while still presenting them in a way that the people I work with are satisfied.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can support me however they are able to! If anyone wants to book me for any big milestone or just wants professional photos, I have a Google Form in the link in my bio on Instagram to officially book me. They can support me by sharing my work, recommending me to anyone who may need my services, or simply engaging when I post on social media. Keeping up with what I have planned in the future and sharing with others in the creative community. I am always open to a collaboration! If any models, photographers, stylists, etc., have an idea, they can just shoot me a text or a dm and we can get started. I’m always open to opportunities to help each other and to network with more people.
