Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Hill.
Hi Jen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My current path began when I was a teenager. We moved to a new house and my sister and I were no longer sharing a room. That means I got to decide where everything went and how much I kept in my space. I remember feeling at peace and in control. While my room wasn’t always clean and tidy 100% of the time, I could easily reset it.
Fast forward 20 years through college and multiple jobs, there was always a thread of organizing and creating systems. At 36 I had decided I wanted a job that I could help people by making a real difference in their life, that I would enjoy each day and feel fulfilled. Professional Organizing came to mind. I LOVED it, was really good at it and the impact that a tidy space can have on a person’s mental health is huge. This was for me.
In May of 2022 Jen Hill Organizing was established as a one-woman operation and a bag of supplies. Now in 2026, Jen Hill Organizing is a team of 6 and has completed over 1,000 hours in people’s homes just this year. I’ve appeared on the local news stations WTOL and WTVG multiple times as an organizing expert to give tips to the Northwest Ohio viewers.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth roads are for the people who keep it safe and don’t try new things. A big struggle in the beginning was dealing with impostor syndrome. Who am I to open a business? I didn’t go to school for this. I don’t know what I’m doing. I think we all go through seasons of feeling less than. Someone told me that impostor syndrome shows up because you are trying something new and leveling up. There will be challenges. Surround yourself with people who will be cheerleaders, coaches, and partners who want to see your success.
As you know, we’re big fans of Jen Hill Organizing. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I love when people ask what I do. I change lives. I know that sounds cheesy and maybe dramatic, but it is true! I think about the woman who reached out to me and told me that she hasn’t had anyone come over to her house in years because she was embarrassed. She was ready for change and invited us in. We helped her declutter and organize her main floor. Everything had a home, she could find what she needed, and her house could breathe again. She had people over that year for Thanksgiving.
So yes, we change lives through decluttering and organizing. We give people their time back, help them save money, stop the arguments with their spouse, and bring back peace into their homes. I love when I run into past clients years later and they tell me their closet or kitchen is still tidy and is working great for them. We build systems that last.
We also offer donation drop off services. The items our clients no longer want to store in their homes we pack up and take to local charities. We recycle electronics and metal too! We try to keep things out of the landfill as much as possible.
I am most proud about the culture we have built. We aren’t here to judge and honestly we don’t even see your mess like you do! We are here to support and get things done!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
My bedroom as a kid was a total disaster! Toys all over the floor constantly. I wasn’t always tidy. There is hope for your messy kids.
