Hi Ben, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
started by trading sketchbooks for machine grip, grinding through endless hours of pulling lines and packing solid color. I didn’t just want to tattoo; I wanted to master the heavy outlines and bold punch of American Traditional and neo-traditional work.
My walls filled up with custom flash—from roaring bear heads and mountain landscapes to intricate marine sleeves, bull sharks, and lucky slot machines. Every session added a layer of grit and precision to my craft, turning rough stencils into clean, permanent art.
It wasn’t just about the ink, either. I had to learn how to keep my creativity sharp, pace myself through long hours, and figure out how to put my work out into the world. Through the late nights and the constant push to get better, I built my name piece by piece, turning an obsession into a real career.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The apprenticeship grind: Working long hours for little to no pay while cleaning stations, setting up needles, and proving my dedication just to touch real skin.
Mastering technique the hard way: Staring down trembling hands, dealing with blowout risks, and learning how different skin textures take ink under the pressure of a vibrating machine.
The physical toll: Dealing with permanent lower back pain, wrist strain, and neck cramps from hunching over clients for hours at a time.
Finding my creative voice: Sorting through the pressure to copy current trends while trying to figure out my own distinct style in American Traditional and neo-traditional work.
Building a client base from scratch: Staring at an empty appointment book for months, hustling on social media, and trying to stand out in a crowded, hyper-competitive industry.

I’ve carved out my reputation in the tattoo world by mastering heavy, bold American Traditional and neo-traditional work, known for its clean lines and timeless durability. People look to me for distinct flash designs that range from classic motifs like Dead Man’s Hands, slot machines, and horned lizards to detailed, custom pieces like sprawling marine sleeves, bull sharks, and deep-sea octopuses.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Better tech and tools: Wireless machines, digital stencil printers, and advanced gear are making setup faster and cleaner.
Safer, eco-friendly supplies: Clients care more about what goes into their skin, driving a massive demand for vegan inks and sustainable studio practices.
The staying power of heavy styles: Timeless, high-contrast work like American Traditional and neo-traditional is staying strong because people want tattoos that actually age well.
The digital grind is permanent: Building a brand online, managing social media algorithms, and marketing your work are just as important as what happens on the shop floor.
