Today we’d like to introduce you to Tylar Willis.
Hi Tylar , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
All Things Ty began during the pandemic in July 2020. My best friend was planning a gender reveal for her second child, my goddaughter and wanted to order chocolate-covered treats from a baker. At the time, I had absolutely no experience with baking or making treats, but I jokingly asked her, “Why don’t we just make them ourselves?”
We went to the store, purchased Rice Krispies, pretzel rods, sprinkles, and candy melts, and gave it a try. To be completely honest, the treats were a mess! Shortly afterward, I posted them on Facebook simply to be funny and share what we had attempted.
What I didn’t expect was the response I received. That simple Facebook post turned into my first customers, and I’ve been blessed to be booked for an event almost every weekend since July 11, 2020.
What started as a fun project with my best friend during the pandemic unexpectedly grew into a business that has allowed me to express my creativity, connect with so many amazing people, and turn something I never had experience doing into a passion and a career.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has definitely not been a smooth road. Like any business owner, I’ve experienced my share of challenges and setbacks. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to effectively manage a growing business while also working full time.
Balancing my career, personal life, and the demands of running All Things Ty can be overwhelming at times. There have been moments when I’ve had to work late nights, sacrifice my free time, and push through exhaustion to make sure my customers receive the quality and service they deserve.
Despite the challenges, I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Every obstacle has taught me something new about business, time management, discipline, and myself. It has also reminded me why I started in the first place. I’m proud of how far All Things Ty has come, and I’m excited to continue growing while finding a healthy balance between my career and my passion.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
All Things Ty specializes in homemade custom cakes, chocolate-covered treats, and creative custom cake and treat toppers. When I started in 2020, I focused solely on chocolate-covered treats, including strawberries, Oreos, pretzels, Rice Krispies, cakesicles, and apples. By 2022, I had expanded into cupcakes, and in 2023, I began specializing in custom heart cakes.
I believe what sets All Things Ty apart is my creativity and determination to bring my customers’ visions to life. Whether they are new or returning customers, I want every person who orders from me to feel confident that they are receiving something made with care, creativity, and attention to detail. Customer satisfaction is extremely important to me.
What I’m most proud of is my progress, especially when it comes to my cakes. When I started this business, I never planned on learning how to bake. My original goal was simply to dip treats! I never imagined that I would eventually be creating custom cakes and developing the skills that I have today. Seeing how far I’ve come since 2020 is something I’m incredibly proud of, and it motivates me to continue learning, creating, and growing.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Since starting All Things Ty in 2020, I’ve had the honor of being booked for five weddings! My treats have also traveled as far as Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that something I created has made its way beyond my local community and has been a part of so many special celebrations. When I first started, I never imagined that my little treat-making hobby would grow into a business trusted for weddings and customers across multiple states.
