Today we’d like to introduce you to Andi.
Hi Andi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story really started long before I ever imagined owning a business. I’ve been a registered nurse for more than 15 years, primarily in home healthcare, and nursing has always been at the root of who I am professionally. It gave me a strong clinical foundation, but more importantly, it taught me the value of meeting people where they are and looking at the person as a whole.
When I first stepped into entrepreneurship, I started small, offering non-skilled beauty services while continuing to work as a nurse. Over time, though, I realized that I really found my stride when I brought the medical side of myself into the business. That was where everything began to feel more authentic to who I was and what I wanted to build.
As I became more exposed to the wellness industry, my perspective continued to evolve. I developed a much deeper interest in not only helping people feel better, but in helping them maintain their wellness and identify opportunities to support their health before problems develop. That curiosity ultimately led me to functional medicine, where I found an approach that really resonated with the way I had already begun thinking about health and wellness—looking beyond individual symptoms and trying to understand the bigger picture.
I’ve since pursued practitioner-level education and certification in functional medicine alongside my graduate education to become an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. That education has continued to shape the direction of Balanced Beauty Collective and the kind of provider I ultimately want to become.
There have definitely been roadblocks along the way. Building a business while continuing to work as a nurse, raising four children, and going back to graduate school has required a lot of perseverance and a willingness to figure things out as I go. I’ve also learned an immense amount about business itself—sometimes through successes and sometimes through things I probably would have done differently if I knew then what I know now.
I think that evolution is really the story of how I got here. I didn’t start with a perfectly defined vision of what Balanced Beauty Collective would eventually become. I allowed it to grow as I grew. What started as a small venture has gradually become something that brings together my clinical background, my interest in aesthetics and wellness, and my desire to help people take a more proactive role in their health. And I still feel like I’m building the next chapter.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. I think entrepreneurship teaches you very quickly that not everyone who is interested in what you’re building is necessarily invested in seeing you succeed. I’ve had relationships change and have experienced situations that were disappointing, but those experiences ultimately taught me to trust myself, be more intentional about who I surround myself with, and realize that I am capable of building something on my own.
There are also unique challenges that come with owning a business that provides medical services. When you are responsible for people’s health and safety, compliance can never be an afterthought. Making sure you have the appropriate structure, policies, oversight, and qualified people in place is incredibly important. Healthcare regulations also continue to evolve, so part of my responsibility as an owner and a nurse is staying educated, anticipating changes, and being willing to make adjustments quickly when necessary. Sometimes that has meant making difficult business decisions, but patient safety and doing things the right way have always had to come first.
Through all of it, my faith has been unwavering and has undoubtedly carried me through some of the more difficult seasons. There have been plenty of moments when I couldn’t see exactly how something was going to work out, but I’ve learned to trust that there is a purpose in both the opportunities and the obstacles. My faith has given me the confidence to keep moving forward, even when the next step wasn’t completely clear.
At the same time, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to encounter some wonderful professionals along the way who have been generous with their knowledge, guidance, and support. I think when people see how seriously I take what I’m building and how hard I’m willing to work for it, they want to see me succeed. I’ve learned that having the right people around you is far more valuable than simply having a lot of people around you.
Every challenge has taught me something—about healthcare, business, relationships, leadership, and myself. I’m certainly still learning, but I’ve become much more confident in trusting my instincts, leaning into my faith, surrounding myself with the right people, and continuing forward even when the road doesn’t look exactly the way I originally expected.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in holistic wellness, weight optimization, and medical aesthetics. What I believe sets me apart is my conservative approach, my extensive focus on safety, and my commitment to treating the whole person. I am genuinely more concerned with how someone feels and whether they are achieving meaningful, sustainable results than I am with the revenue that can be produced from their care.
Education is a huge part of my approach, but so is time. I take the time to listen to my clients, understand their concerns, answer questions that may not have been addressed elsewhere, and make sure they understand the “why” behind what we are doing. When someone comes back and tells me their symptoms have improved, they feel better, or their quality of life has changed, that builds confidence and creates a relationship that goes far beyond a single treatment or appointment.
My background in home healthcare has always allowed me to thrive in independent environments and build meaningful relationships within the community. I’ve carried that same approach into Balanced Beauty Collective, and I think that combination of clinical knowledge, personalized care, safety, and genuine investment in each person’s success helps me stand out in an industry that has become incredibly saturated.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I think the greatest way people can support me is through word-of-mouth. Referrals and recommendations mean so much because they allow someone new to walk through my door already knowing they are coming to a place where they will be heard, educated, and genuinely supported in whatever their goals may be.
I also really value collaboration. I recently launched a comprehensive wellness program with a local private chef, allowing us to bring functional wellness and nutrition together and really explore the concept of food as medicine. As Balanced Beauty Collective continues to grow, I hope to build more relationships with other wellness professionals in the community whose expertise and values complement what I do.
Ultimately, whether someone chooses to work with me as a client, refers someone they care about, shares my business with others, or approaches me with an opportunity to collaborate, that support helps me continue building the kind of community-centered practice I envisioned from the beginning.
