Rising Stars: Meet Juanita Duquesne of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juanita Duquesne.

Hi Juanita , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started cutting hair seven years ago and fell in love with it. I decided to get my barbers license in 2024 to further fulfill my dreams of being a master barber. I come from a culinary background so, (I’ve been cooking for 20+ years) I decided barbering would be a good change for me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
LOL, no, of course not. I actually want to get away from cooking completely and just barber full time, but it’s been a struggle. The road has not been smooth, but I am optimistic.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed barber based out of Columbus, Ohio. I specialize in hairline transformations, thinning hair, no hair, receding hair- all hair types are welcomed. I am mostly proud of my resilience, my toughness- I’ve shed a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where I am now. I’m proud of how I’ve managed to overcome most obstacles in my way. My creativity, my style and my professionalism are what sets me apart from others.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Fortunately, the barber industry is always growing. I plan on learning to do hair replacements and perfecting my craft. Within the next 5-10 years I plan on having at least 3 barbershops- one being on wheels providing employment opportunities and excellent hairline transformations.
