Conversations with Chloe Wolfenbarger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Wolfenbarger.

Hi chloe , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started drawing when I was really young, and it always was a part of who I was.

I started getting tattooed a little past 18 years old and definitely became a regular at my favorite tattoo studio.

There was a point in time where my brain could not process doing art anymore after it had been a passion of mine my whole life. Anytime I tried to pick up a pencil and start to draw on a piece of paper, it ruined me. I would crumple up pieces of paper over and over.

This was a horrible and trapping mindset to live in which had consumed my every thought.

I soon began therapy, and my therapist instructed me to post my art so that way I could feel the feedback and realize that I was capable of producing good art.

I would post on social media whenever I would finish with a drawing, until after a while, it became a routine.

Since I was a regular at my mentor’s tattoo studio, we definitely had a great bond. It was so amazing to have someone be able to put art on my body that I could showcase for the rest of my life. Every time I would get a tattoo, it would make me feel healed, and I felt like I was becoming more and more like myself.

One time, during one of these appointments, my mentor asked if I ever wanted to do this as a career. I was shocked. A hobby that I loved growing up could be my job? It was the most incredible opportunity, so I jumped on it immediately.

Now, I have overcome a lot of the negative, perfectionistic thoughts in my head because I realize now that I am capable of great things, and I have so many people in my corner who believe in me.

I truly appreciate my therapist at the time and my mentor so very deeply for taking a chance on me and believing that I could do this.

Looking back, it’s crazy to think that something I once struggled so deeply with became something I get to do every single day. The little girl who loved to draw never really stopped being an artist, she just needed help to find her passion for art again.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When it came to artistic things, it would be somewhat easy to pick up and get the hang of it quickly. But when it came to tattooing, it was easily one of the hardest things to learn in my whole entire life.

Taking the concept of drawing and taking a vibrating machine going in and out of the skin over and over while trying to simultaneously stretch the skin the right way, go into the skin at the right depth, and trying to turn that drawing into a tattoo is insanely hard.

It looks so easy when you are watching videos, but there are SO many factors you have to keep in mind with tattooing that you can easily fail on.

Another rough aspect was starting a business from the ground up. It was hard trying to get people to trust someone who didn’t have a ton of experience to put something permanent on their body for the rest of their lives.

It was hard, but the start is always the hardest.

Hard things are hard for a reason. Some people would have given up or easily tried to find a shortcut around these things, but I am so glad I put my heart and soul into my business.

I’m just so thankful to every individual who has put their trust in me to make their vision come to life in such a permanent way.

This is a dream come true.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a single-needle and fine-line tattoo artist.

I am most known for my single needle work, whether it be for script or delicate and more detailed concepts.

I’m most proud of seeing the version of myself who first started in this career compared to the person I am today. It’s amazing to see a business grow and to realize that I have tattooed almost 1,000 tattoos just within these past few years.

What sets me apart from other tattoo artists is that I care deeply about the outcome of your tattoo. I try to be as transparent as possible and will guide you towards the best situations to have the best healing tattoos.
I also do free touch-ups because I could never let someone walk around with something on their body for the rest of their lives simply just because it has faded. I just want people to walk around with the pieces I provide for them and fall in love with them over and over again

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I would love to own a tattoo studio. It would be a big dream, but that is where I would be honored to be at. I would love to mentor others to get into this career as well. Tattooing has been the joy of my life, and I would be ecstatic to teach others about the career that changed my life.
