Meet Pete Burger Kay Bender of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete Burger Kay Bender.

Pete Burger, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our band started in the wee hours of the night parked at a graveyard when Kay started showing me (Pete Burger) all the songs she had written in the years leading up to that night . after that initial session, we would find time on various open mic stages and eventually got our first show booked in Warren Ohio not far from where we first played music together at the, now closed, Underground Lounge. From there we have expanded into playing in every pocket of our local scene of Youngstown as well as in several states in the south and the East Coast. Today we have recordings in development for an album and a few singles about to be released.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The band getting together and working out material has been a fairly smooth road as Kay and I can find a flow in the creative process and we love performing. We have had to work hardest at connecting with the scene and trying to stay relevant across a wider chunk of land, not just Youngstown. Networking, traveling, and just being taken seriously as a female led duo has had its struggles. Our greatest strength is our Persistence.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Kay’s Specialty is writing songs and only for the passion that she has for the very art of doing it. She finds music to be a superior form of expression and a means to communicate emotions, experiences and states of consciousness to our audience, PeteV specializes in multiple instrument disciplines and holds many private lessons with students to hone their expression. together, we seek to lift the hearts of the audience with our songs and embolden people to face their inner world.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
God, Family and the people who support live bands buying merch or just attending shows. These are the ones who have pushed us to keep playing and writing and hauling across the country to The wonderful venues who host our music.
