Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Marvin.

Scott, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My career in real estate began long before Team Results Realty. I graduated from Franklin University with a bachelor’s in Business Management. After college, I started selling new homes for local builders, investing in properties, building homes, and working as a traditional real estate agent. During my early career, I began to see an opportunity to do things differently.

I recognized that many homeowners wanted the exposure of the MLS and the expertise of an experienced real estate professional, but they didn’t necessarily want to pay a traditional percentage based commission.

That idea helped me create Team Results Realty.

As Broker/Owner, I built Team Results Realty around giving Ohio homeowners more choices in how they sell their homes. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, sellers can choose from Flat Fee MLS options that give them more control or select a full-service listing when they want more hands-on assistance.

My company serves homeowners throughout Ohio, combining modern Flat Fee MLS services with decades of real-world real estate experience.

Our company philosophy is that homeowners should be able to choose the level of service they need and understand what they’re paying for.

Our company has grown into one of the largest flat-fee brokerages in the State of Ohio. We have served several thousand clients throughout the years and save our combined sellers over $1 Milliuon dollars in fees every year.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were certainly struggles. In 2006, when the real estate bubble burst, our sales plummeted. I struggled for a year to close sales. During this time, many sellers fell behind on their loans and couldn’t sell their house because they owed more than their house was worth. I recognized a need these sellers had and found a solution called a “Short Sale”. A short sale is a negotiated sale where the seller’s bank lets them sell for less than what is owed on their loan. I created a short sale business and was able to save several hundred sellers all across Ohio from foreclosure and get them out of a bad situation, so they could move on with life. I became the top short sale agent in the state of Ohio.

In the beginning years of my flat fee business around 2018, there were struggles. In the beginning, many people were skeptical of paying a low fee to sell their house. Business was slow for us, but once we proved our concept, it caught on quickly. Our business started growing quickly and continues to grow every year. Also, in the beginning, we didn’t have an automated way of processing our orders, and sometimes we had to drive around Ohio to meet sellers. This was very time-consuming, but we now have an automated way where our clients can do all the documents quickly and easily through our website.

We’ve been impressed with Team Results Realty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Team Results Realty is a leading flat-fee brokerage serving the state of Ohio. Our specialty and what sets us apart from other real estate brokerages is that we charge a low flat fee to list and sell a house. Our basic package is only $299 to list a property on the MLS. We also offer different levels of service, from a basic DIY (FSBO) to a Full Service Representation. We are proud that we can help sellers save lots of money in commissions and keep more of their hard-earned equity, all the while offering that same level of service as a traditional 6% agent. People often wonder how we can make money with this business model. This model is a win-win for us and the seller. We save sellers thousands of dollars, and we make our money on the volume of business we do across the state of Ohio.
