Today we’d like to introduce you to Gracie Hubler.
Hi Gracie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have been passionate about all things beauty. I would run around the house in little dresses and plastic high heels, begging my sisters to play “makeup” with me. I learned about the esthetics industry when I was a junior in high school. I was immediately captivated. I would watch esthetician inspired Tik Tok’s and YouTube videos endlessly. I applied to an esthetics program my senior year and got accepted. When I started the esthetics program, I felt like I was right where I belong. Learning about my passion was like a dream to me. After graduating the esthetics program, I began my career at my cousin’s salon. I did everything I could to get my name out there. I handed out fliers, business cards, giveaways, referrals, and posted constantly. Lash extensions soon became my niche. I stayed at the salon for a little over a year, when a family friend opened up a wellness spa in our area. I am still working there to this day and I couldn’t be happier. The ability to see my clients confidence transform after their appointment never fails to fulfill me. I won’t ever take this career choice for granted and I feel beyond blessed to do what I do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Thankfully, I would be lying if I said I have had a rough time in my career. That is because I am so passionate about this industry and have been truly blessed by the Lord with gracious people in my life. The biggest struggles I have faced were learning the business side of esthetics, maintaining a healthy work/life balance, and keeping up with the never ending beauty trends/techniques. Everything gets easier with patience and practice, don’t give up!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I focus on lashes, brows, and skin. I specialize in custom lash extensions. I am a firm believer that lashes are not “one size fits all”. Eye shapes are unique so lashes should be too. I am mostly known for doing lash extensions. I would say that I am most proud of building a loyal client base from the ground up. I went from having no clients to being booked out 4-5 weeks consistently. I feel what sets me apart from others is my work ethic, friendly personality, and gentle approach. I am continuously learning all the new trends and techniques to ensure my clients are getting top notch services. I try to make my space feel welcoming and relaxing. I want my clients to leave feeling refreshed mentally and physically. I put all my effort into every single service.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel that having a sense of drive is the most important characteristic to my success. I don’t have a boss telling me what hours I need to work and what days I have to be there. You have all the freedom that you want in this field. While freedom is a benefit of this career, it can potentially be a disadvantage with the wrong mindset. If you don’t push yourself every day by performing services well and marketing your business, you could end up with little to no success. With that being said, it is easy to be dedicated to something you are so passionate about.
