Meet Stephanie Archer of Paw Dawgs, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Archer.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Approximately 15 years ago, I knew someone with ailments and a degenerative disease that has now claimed his life. This person was the owner of a labor doodle. They had paid upwards of $8000 for the year to have their dog trained by a major company.

What I observed? Very different. A dog WITHOUT ANY training. A dog darting out of doors, stealing food from my sick defenceless friends hands, counter surfing, stealing items of clothing to prevent members of the family from leaving leading to extreme frustration for multiple reasons. For one, the inability to appreciate a dog they spent thousands to get and thousands to train.

They started to lose hope that dog trainers could even be helpful. They gained an uncooperative family member whose dog training was failing. It was at that time I knew I HAD TO DO SOMETHING. I couldn’t sit by and watch this family suffer any longer. I made it my mission to turn it around for them. Turning Monroe (the labor doodle) into my very first client. After 6 short weeks, training was a HUGE success and the family finally had the dog they longed for. It’s been history from there. Word of mouth spread like a wildfire. This journey began in Connecticut and now i’m here to serve my fellow Ohioans.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road started smoothly in Connecticut. Since moving to Ohio it has been anything but that. Many people choose to live with the issues and call it “normal”, say “oh he’s just a dog” when really their dogs are crying out for more. Thunderstorm anxiety CAN BE HELPED. Grooming and Vet anxiety CAN BE HELPED. The obstacles I’m facing are that people have gotten the wrong information and are convinced the inaccurate information is correct. Also, not knowing anyone here hurts my word of mouth process that previously helped me soar into success.

What I’d want you to know?

Paw Dawgs was built around something I genuinely believe in: that dogs aren’t “bad,” and that sometimes what looks like a behavior problem is really a communication problem.

I’ve spent more than 15 years working with dogs, and every dog has taught me something different.

Paw Dawgs isn’t about simply teaching a dog to sit, stay, or walk nicely on a leash. It’s about helping people understand why their dogs behave the way they do and giving them the tools to build a healthier relationship with their dog.

I’m especially proud that I’ve been able to take that experience, start in Connecticut, bring it with me to Ohio, and continue building a business based on trust, compassion, education, and results.

At the end of the day, I’m most proud when I see the relationship between a dog and their person change. When an owner goes from feeling like giving up, frustrated or overwhelmed to saying, “I finally understand my dog,” that’s the success that means the most to me.

Paw Dawgs is about bridging that gap between dogs and their people…and that’s something I’m incredibly proud to have built.

What I’m most proud of about the Paw Dawgs brand is that it represents exactly what I believe about dogs and the people who love them.
I never wanted Paw Dawgs to be just another dog-training business telling people what commands to teach their dogs. I wanted to create a brand that helps people actually understand their dogs.

My goal has always been to bridge the communication gap between dogs and their people; to help owners understand that behavior is communication and that there is usually a reason behind what their dog is doing.

I’m proud that Paw Dawgs has developed a voice that is educational, compassionate, honest, and relatable. I want someone to come across my content and feel like, “Finally, someone understands what I’m going through.”

That’s what I want the Paw Dawgs brand to stand for: understanding before judgment, education before frustration, and building a relationship with your dog rather than simply trying to control their behavior.

If I can make someone see their dog differently and give them hope that their relationship can get better, that’s what makes me most proud of the brand I’ve built.

I want readers to know that Paw Dawgs is more than a dog-training business. It’s about helping people understand the dogs they love. With 15+ years of experience, I provide personalized, in-home dog training designed around the individual dog, their behavior, and their family’s lifestyle.

My approach focuses on communication, relationship-building, and practical solutions not simply teaching commands. I help owners navigate everything from puppy foundations and basic obedience to leash pulling, impulse control, resource guarding, and everyday behaviors that can make life with a dog challenging.

I also offer personalized dog sitting/boarding, allowing dogs to receive the same consistency, structure, enrichment, and compassionate care they receive through training.

Through Paw Dawgs, I also create educational content and resources to help dog owners become more confident, informed advocates for their dogs.

Ultimately, I want people to know that Paw Dawgs isn’t about “fixing” dogs. It’s about helping people understand why their dogs behave the way they do, giving owners practical tools they can actually use, and creating stronger, happier relationships between dogs and their people.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by impact more than numbers.

Of course, I want Paw Dawgs to be financially successful and continue to grow, but success to me is knowing that the work I’m doing genuinely makes a difference. If I can help an overwhelmed dog owner understand their dog, change the way they communicate with them, and ultimately strengthen that relationship, I consider that a success.

I also define success as building something that is authentically mine; something that reflects my values, my experience, and the way I believe people and dogs should be treated.

For me, success is having the freedom to create a life and career that I’m proud of while making a meaningful impact on the community of people and dogs I serve.

Ultimately, I don’t want to simply build a successful dog-training business. I want to build a brand people trust, a business that creates job opportunities, supports me and my family, and creates a legacy of helping people understand their dogs better.

If I can make a difference, continue growing, and still be proud of how I got there, that’s success to me.
