Check Out Kofi Oduro’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kofi Oduro.

Hi Kofi , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am Kofi, a creative cinematographer
, photographer, and a musician. I started creating simply because I loved capturing moments and telling stories. At first, I didn’t really know where it would take me. I was just learning, experimenting, and taking every opportunity I could. Over time, that passion grew into FlicksbyKofi and opened doors for me to travel, work with different people, and experience things I never imagined I’d be doing this young.

A big part of my journey has also been my faith. I’m heavily involved in music and ministry, and that has shaped the way I look at creativity. I’ve learned that creating isn’t only about making something look good; it can make people feel something, tell someone’s story, and ultimately be used for a greater purpose.

I’m still very early in my journey, and I definitely don’t have everything figured out. But looking back at where I started compared to where I am now, I’m grateful for every opportunity, every mistake, and every person who believed in me. I’m just continuing to grow, take risks, and see where God takes what I’ve been given.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been the smoothest road, especially because I started out so young so I had a lot of room for error. Some of which were being under-resourced at times because I didn’t have enough finances to get the gear and resources that would make creating easier. Nonetheless, throughout that struggle, I learned the skill of problem solving and making use of what you have.

Another struggle I faced was finding a good balance between life outside of my creative world and my actual creative world. There were times I really wanted to express myself creatively and be in my own world but I had other responsibilities such as school, which caused me to make sacrifices sometimes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photographer, filmmaker, and creative storyteller. Most of my work is centered around capturing people, experiences, and moments in a way that feels intentional and tells a story beyond just what you see.

Through my brand, FlicksbyKofi, I’ve had the opportunity to work across photography, filmmaking, live events, music, and content creation. My work has also taken me to different cities and allowed me to create for people and organizations I once could only imagine working with.

What I’m most proud of, though, is that I’ve been able to build all of this at a young age while still discovering who I am as an artist. I never want to limit myself to one creative lane. I’m also a musician, and my faith plays a major role in the way I create and the stories I want to tell.

I think what sets me apart is that I care just as much about how something feels as how it looks. Whether I’m behind a camera, working on a film, or creating through music, I want people to walk away feeling something. For me, creativity isn’t just a career, it’s one of the ways I communicate, serve people, and express my faith.

How do you think about happiness?
My happiness comes from seeing the joy on other people’s faces when they witness a piece of creative work that I made for them or that they’re involved in. It brings me great joy when people are able to relive moments through a video or sound that I pieced together.

This makes me happy because we live in such a fast paced world today and individuals usually don’t get to truly enjoy moments. Therefore when I’m granted the opportunity to preserve a moment, whether it’s through a camera or a music instrument, I’m very content.
