Today we’d like to introduce you to Tameka Fredericy.

Hi Tameka, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tameka Fredericy, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.

Reflecting back, the artist within me was always there. I just didn’t always understand it or allow my inner artist to have the voice she deserved.

Creating has allowed me to express my inner world through experimenting with colors, painting, using different materials, and incorporating my experiences and interests into my art. Through the process of creation, I began learning more about myself.

Over time, my curiosity, spirituality, and healing took me on a journey to go deeper within myself. This allowed me to become more fascinated with symbolism, mythology, crystals, and the connection between the physical and the unseen. I began connecting the dots between colors and emotions, understanding how symbols could tell stories, and realizing that paintings could tell stories without words—representing something much deeper than what we see on the surface.

For me, creating became a way of expressing things that were sometimes difficult to put into words. I began experimenting with drawing, painting, colors, patterns, and different materials. The more I created, the more I realized that I wasn’t simply making things—I was discovering pieces of myself through the process.

My personal journey isn’t about following a specific niche, style, or category. There is no box. It’s simply too confined a space for creativity. I’ve experimented, made mistakes, learned new techniques, and continued pushing myself forward. Each creation, whether it be a painting, wrapped jewelry, or a creative idea, has taught me something valuable about who I am as an artist.

Eventually, I realized that I didn’t want creativity to remain something I did only for myself. I believe creativity should be shared and created for others to experience. I wanted to build something from it.

That’s where Create4M came from.

Create4M is more than a business to me. It’s a way of turning creativity, emotion, memory, and imagination into something tangible. It’s also part of my way of honoring the memory of my nephew, who left us too soon in 2022 at the age of 14. Through Create4M, I have a way to create something meaningful from love and remembrance.

Every day, I am learning something new, having new ideas, and creating things that other like-minded individuals can connect with and relate to.

When it comes to creating, I don’t believe there is a final destination. As another blank canvas or new opportunity arrives, we are given another chance to have an experience, learn something new, and enjoy the process of creation.

For me, art is about expressing ideas, exploring the unknown, discovering more of myself, and creating something that others can experience and enjoy.

The journey continues with every creation.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, I am happy the road had potholes and various detours along the way. Not everything in life is easy, and if it were, how would we gain a deeper understanding of what we experience and why we experience it?

I believe our challenges give us the ability to take what we’ve learned and use that wisdom to influence and support others who may need the same perspective we’ve gained from navigating those obstacles.

I’ve faced many challenges throughout my journey, including grief from the loss of loved ones, toxic work environments, and breaking down outdated beliefs that no longer have a place in my current reality. All of these experiences, both good and bad, have helped mold me into the person I have become today—and I can honestly say I am extremely proud of who I am.

Another factor that has helped me overcome certain obstacles and challenges has been my support system. It includes my sister, my friends, my therapist, and my soul tribe.

I recognize that I didn’t navigate every obstacle alone. Sometimes strength comes from within, and sometimes it comes from the people who remind us of our strength when we can’t see it for ourselves.

Every pothole, detour, challenge, loss, lesson, and moment of growth has contributed to the person I am today. I wouldn’t erase those experiences because they have become part of my story—and part of the wisdom I carry forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is centered around creative expression, exploration, and storytelling through art. I work across different mediums, including painting, drawing, mandalas, murals, and handmade jewelry, while continuing to experiment with new materials and techniques. I don’t believe creativity should be confined to one particular style or category, so my work naturally evolves as I do.

I specialize in creating pieces that combine color, symbolism, emotion, spirituality, and personal experiences. I’m especially drawn to cosmic themes, mythology, crystals, patterns, and the connection between the physical and the unseen. My goal isn’t simply to create something visually appealing, but to create something that makes people stop, feel, think, or connect with something within themselves.

What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve continued creating and growing through every chapter of my life. I’ve faced grief, challenges, setbacks, and periods of uncertainty, but I’ve learned how to turn those experiences into inspiration rather than allowing them to define me. My art has become one of the ways I process those experiences, discover more about myself, and share what I’ve learned with others.

I’m also proud of Create4M, because it represents much more than a business. It’s a creative space built from passion, memory, healing, and love. It allows me to honor the memory of my nephew while creating something positive and meaningful from that loss.

What sets me apart is that I don’t want to be put in a box. I don’t create because something fits a current trend or because I’m trying to imitate what someone else is doing. I create from curiosity and from the experiences that have shaped me. My work can change, evolve, and take unexpected directions—and I see that as a strength rather than a limitation.

I’m not interested in creating art that simply tells people what to see. I want to create work that gives people room to find their own meaning within it.

At the end of the day, I’m still learning, still experimenting, and still discovering what I’m capable of. I believe that’s what makes my journey as an artist authentic

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have to give much gratitude to my grandparents for the excellent job they did in raising me. The many lessons they taught me and the values they instilled in me are reflected in the way I interact with others and in the person I have become.

My baby sister, Tahea! She is my biggest cheerleader and supporter. Whenever I have an event, she has always been there to help set up and support me. When I’m working on an art piece and she sees it, she’ll check it out and give me an, “Oh, that’s nice!”

But more importantly, there is something so nourishing to the soul about being able to watch movies together as adults and still laugh together like we’re kids again. Those are the moments I truly cherish.

And then there’s G.P. That guy right there has been a boss, a mentor, and a father figure all at once. He has been a true blessing in my life and has played an important role in shaping the person I am today.

I am also grateful for the many other family members and close friends who have been there with me through the various chapters of my journey. They have shown up for me when I needed them, supported me during difficult times, celebrated my accomplishments, and reminded me that I never had to navigate this journey alone.

When I look back, I realize that the person I have become wasn’t shaped by my experiences alone. It was also shaped by the people who loved me, believed in me, taught me, challenged me, and stood beside me along the way.

For that, I am deeply grateful.
