Rising Stars: Meet Lori Kantor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Kantor.

Hi Lori, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a Social Seller/Leader for Color Street.  I am also a mom to 4 adult children and a Mimi to 3 adorable grandchildren.  I love my industry because it allows me to balance my career and family.  When I am not in the middle of grabbing a grand child from the bus or training my team you can catch me enjoy fellowship with friends.

Interestingly I can remember when I got that first spark to share something I loved.  It was when I was presenting to my business club (where I was president  ) using a projector and slides to present “pressure treated wood.” What in the world was a 16-year-old girl doing presenting “pressure treated wood”? It was an unusual product that I believed in, and the thrill of getting the class to understand the benefit is a feeling hasn’t left me.

Fast forward to a season of life where I was working corporate and just about to have my third baby. I was sitting at a home-presentation party, (think Tupperware), and the presenter asked me if I had ever thought about doing what she did. I honestly hadn’t but I knew in my heart that maybe this was where I could fulfill my passion, and this is how my direct sales career began! From the beginning, I treated it like a business, and it treated me back the same way. I have met the most amazing, diverse group of women who became clients, and then friends.

Through sharing a business opportunity, I found another avenue in my business to grow personally, which was by leading and growing other leaders within my organization. This has been the most rewarding part of my career, to say the least. To this day, my work continues to be a place of personal and professional growth.

I am now with my (what I hope to call) my “forever company,”… Color Street, where I lead a team of stylists, guest speak and train our field of stylist, and have the flexibility I need for this next season of my life to thrive both in my work and in my personal life. This company is  filled with so much growth potential, and sharing the innovative product they’ve created that saves women time and money gives me inspiration to continue collaborating with other women. When you have a strong support system within your company and a product that works, one that you can get behind, I believe you will have much success.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I started my career in direct sales in 1999.  The first company I was with closed their doors after more than 50 years in business. I was heartbroken because in the nine years with this company I had learned so much about the industry, and with the company’s closure, my business with them and my customers ceased.  At that time, I had just purchased a new home doubling my mortgage, so it was not a good time to be out of work.  And not to sound cliché but “when one door closes, another one opens.” Gratefully another direct selling company ask me to bring their company to my region.  I had to learn to pivot during a time when I could have thrown in the towel, and that was one of the keys to my success. When you are in business for yourself, you will need to pivot, and learning to do it well is how that next level of success happens. Learning to lead with a servant’s heart,( where serving my community is putting their needs first) taught me much about myself and others. Sharing my experiences has helped me help others in business, in family and in every day life.  .

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Who knew that nail color could change lives? I offer a product that fills a need.  Color Street has revolutionized nail beauty with 100% real nail polish strips that take the mess and stress out of your manicure experience.  Each nail polish strip is made of a base, color, and topcoat.

My company has provided a place for me to grow personally and professionally within our stylist community as well as in my own community I work daily with a team of more than 400 women (no men yet on my team but they are certainly welcome!) sharing with them how to grow their businesses through coaching, mentoring, and methods supported by the social selling industry.

My clients make me smile with their personal stories they share…think about it: women have been doing their nails together since they were in adolescents, and now I get to lead and share with them in a whole new way.  It’s a complete JOY!  I love the Will Rogers quote, “A stranger is just a friend I haven’t met yet.”  That truly sums up how I feel about what I do and the connections I am making.

I’m so proud to share the human side of marketing while building relationships with others, and am equally proud of my team. Serving while leading is what sets me apart.

I chose to be in this company because it offers a product that will save women time and money, and the company is now expanding in other areas of makeup as well after five years of having only dry nail polish in their line.

The Color Street Foundation has supported organizations such as March of Dimes and causes such as childhood cancer, adoption awareness, breast cancer, and Alzheimer’s and dementia awareness, to name just a few. Over $4.5 million has been donated to bring awareness to these charitable campaigns.

Our founder has an amazing vision for our company: building awareness, one nail strip at a time! That’s a great match for me!
