Rising Stars: Meet Helen Nusekabel of Beavercreek, OH

Today we’d like to introduce you to Helen Nusekabel.

Hi Helen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I lived in Vietnam, my friend had a hair salon and I worked for her and learned how nails were done. When I moved to the United States, I was in a different type of work and my husband suggested I might want to look into getting my license here in the US to be a nail technician so I could manage my own hours. I got my license and began working in a nail salon. A friend of mine, who I had worked for in the past, was wanting to retire and she asked if wanted to take over her salon. I decided to do that so my family and I could work together.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with most new businesses, there have been some bumps in the road, mostly typical. For example, things break or stop working, usually at the wrong time and have to be fixed. Our location is not as visible as we would like in order to attract more business. The economy can also have an impact on our business. But, we have been able to work those out and still give our customers great service. We try to give 110% because we love to make them feel special and show them we care about them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a full service nail salon including manicures, pedicures, acrylics, dipping, luminary, gel builder, gel-X, nail design, and brow waxing, We also welcome children, bridal parties, and group parties. We work hard to meet the client’s requests until they are happy with the results. For example, if a client comes in for a nail design for any reason or season, we are glad to do it. Our goal is for each client to leave our salon more than satisfied with our service and their nails. We do all types of nail designs. If they bring in a picture of something they would like done, we do our best to create the design they want. We provide nails crafted with artistry and care to help clients feel polished, confident, and beautiful. In addition, we currently provide free nail trimming for seniors 60 years and older.

Some of our clients comment that they like the atmosphere at our salon because it is a relaxing and calming environment where other salons often have televisions going or louder music playing.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a little girl, I always wanted to become a doctor because I wanted to help people. Although I didn’t become a doctor, I still am helping people. We create stunning nails that don’t just look amazing; they help our clients feel that way, too. They walk in for a fresh manicure and walk out feeling beautiful and empowered.
