Meet Taylor Oakley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Oakley.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi!!! I’m Taylor.

I’m a stay-at-home mom to my very active two-year-old. My entire life I loved fashion, hair, make-up, and being creative. I started a blog in college but my life took a very different turn and I didn’t make time for it anymore. I got married, started my career in cosmetology, got pregnant and I thought, I never want to be a stay-at-home mom…. then I had my son, Zane, and everything changed. I share a lot about my journey with postpartum anxiety on my Instagram, because I don’t want any mom to feel like she isn’t “normal” or that it isn’t common. I truly believe that my PPA and the love I didn’t know I was capable of having led me to want to stay home with my son and not return back to work. However, I knew being the creative that I am, I needed an outlet. So, in March of 2021, I decided to start a new blog., a motherhood and lifestyle blog where I share everything I love. You name it, if I love it, I’m sharing it with YOU. Of course, I’m baby spamming you too because well, he’s a huge part of my life! It’s crazy how life works, something I had to put on hold years ago found its way back into my life and I couldn’t be any more grateful!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh my gosh no, definitely not smooth and still isn’t smooth! I’m still so small in comparison to other micro-influencers and bloggers but I love it so much that no matter what I do what I can to be as consistent as I can.

Struggles I have had and currently have are just keeping really consistent and in a good routine. Some weeks I crush my goals and put out content I’m so proud of and other weeks I do nothing because… mom life and above anything my son comes first.

I’m not in a super great routine as far as batching content because I have maybe an hour to myself a day, but I do what I can and my passion for it keeps me going even if I’m not growing as fast, I would like or meeting my goals as quickly as I know I could.

If my “struggles” have taught me anything it’s that I am not racing anyone but myself! I can lift up other creatives and be incredibly proud of them for growing super-fast, getting more likes/comments, more partnerships, etc… and still do what makes me happy on my own timeline!!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a lifestyle, beauty & motherhood blogger/nano-influencer.

I mainly focus on motherhood and lifestyle favorites, tips & tricks, or just being relatable because sometimes being a mom, especially a stay-at-home mom can be isolating.

My love for all things beauty always makes an appearance too because it’s been a passion of mine as far back as I can remember. I love a good full face of makeup and to get all dolled up, so I’ll share that, but also the reality of it is, it doesn’t happen often and I mainly wear athleisure with my hair up in a bun. So, I share it all!

I am most proud of my postpartum journey and sharing it with other moms. Being a mom came “natural” to me. I have always known I wanted kids. But what was the biggest shock to me was the hormones after having my son. The debilitating anxiety when someone else was holding him. And I love sharing that because I didn’t know it was going to be an issue. I had heard of postpartum depression but never anxiety. To think of a mom having to go through it alone breaks my heart. So, I will always advocate for new moms or just moms in general!

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson is what I stated previously, this is no one’s race or journey but my own. I love watching other women win in this blogger/influencer community and I will never compare my journey to theirs. My number one in life is my son right now so if creating content has to take a short break so I can focus on him and that slows my growth in the industry down so be it. I will make it there when I am supposed to. In the meantime, I will keep doing what I love and cheering on the amazing women on their own journey!
