Today we’d like to introduce you to Rickquetta Brown
Rickquetta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From a young age, I’ve been driven by a strong desire to make a meaningful impact. Even through life’s challenges, I always had the sense that I was destined to create change. Growing up, others often commented on my wisdom. Something I didn’t fully grasp at the time. But God has a way of revealing his purpose for you. I’ve always been an attentive listener, with a natural ability to inspire and uplift others. So, when the Lord placed the idea of starting a podcast on my heart, while in the midst of a global pandemic, I recognized it as a divine opportunity to build a platform that would not only inspire, educate and empower those closest to me, but also reach people around the world. And that’s how the She Bold Crew podcast came to life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t exactly been smooth! Let’s just say that since I started my podcast in 2021, I’ve truly learned what it means to walk by faith. In the beginning, I didn’t know much about podcasting, so there was a lot of trial and error. Figuring out what equipment to buy, where to record, what topics to cover, and who to invite as guests—it was all a learning curve. Though it’s been mentally, emotionally, and financially challenging, there were many times I thought about giving up. But through it all, I’m reminded that I was chosen for this! So I will remain obedient.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I host and produce the She Bold Crew podcast, which many would consider a self-help or lifestyle genre podcast. We’ve covered a wide range of topics, from mental health challenges to social injustices. With over 50 episodes published, we’ve reached listeners in 57 countries and 600 cities. But what I’m most proud of is the feedback from the listeners. One listener shared that they were on the verge of taking their own life, and decided to live another day after listening to the SBC podcast. Or the message from a young single mom who once believed she wasn’t worthy of love—until she heard a snippet of our podcast episode reminding her that she is unconditionally and infinitely loved by God, and that nothing she does will change that. This is what truly sets the SBC podcast apart. It’s not about the numbers, money or recognition— it’s about being a physical extension of Christ here on earth and changing lives, One episode at a time.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have a few. Some of my favorite childhood memories are the times spent with my siblings. There is nine of us—yes, nine! And we were raised by our grandmother. We didn’t have a lot, but one thing my siblings and I knew how to do was make something out of nothing. We were very active kids. When the weather was nice, my brothers would recycle wood and build ramps for us to practice bike stunts. On snow days, we’d gather cardboard boxes to create makeshift sleds and slide down the hill in the neighbors yard. There were times we created music videos to my older brother’s songs he wrote, while he recorded us on his old camcorder. Simple things like that, made all of life’s worries fade away—even if just for a moment
