Today we’d like to introduce you to Patti Andrich.
Hi Patti, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My undergraduate degree is in Education, and I earned a master’s degree in Adapted Physical Education and Special Education from The Ohio State University. After graduation, I began my career teaching adapted physical education in the East Cleveland Public Schools. Within a year, I was hired by the State Department of Education to work at a regional resource center, which provided support to teachers through educational materials and professional development aimed at better serving children with disabilities.
After several years in the field, I decided to return to school to become an occupational therapist. I graduated around the same time my husband and I started our family. Together, we combined our expertise—his as a neuro-optometrist and mine in occupational therapy—to open the Andrich Eye Clinic. Based on feedback from the clients we served, we rebranded as The Vision Development Team to reflect our collaborative, team-based approach and commitment to meeting the individual needs of each person we work with.
For over 20 years, we have worked side by side, growing to meet the rising demand for developmental vision care—empowering individuals of all ages to see more clearly, live more fully, and realize their true potential.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Haha—it’s definitely not always been smooth sailing! Training providers, meeting financial demands, and building a team aligned with our company’s mission have all come with their share of ups and downs.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Vision Development Team?
The Vision Development Team is a specialized neuro-optometry and vision therapy practice serving Northeast Ohio. For over 20 years, we’ve helped people of all ages improve how their eyes and brain work together—so they can learn, move, and live better. Our services go far beyond traditional eye care and include vision therapy to improve eye coordination, focus, tracking, and visual thinking skills; neuro-optometry for recovery from concussions and other visual challenges; sports vision training to boost athletic performance; and sensory support for individuals with ADHD, autism, or learning differences. We also work to mature primitive reflexes, which strengthens the foundation for visual development. This allows vision to lead in sensory integration—helping the brain make sense of the world and respond appropriately in daily life.
What sets us apart is our collaborative, compassionate approach. We’re a team of internationally recognized doctors, therapists, and vision coaches who create individualized care plans rooted in science and teamwork. We don’t just treat symptoms—we change lives. Whether it’s a child who finally enjoys reading or an adult regaining confidence after a brain injury, we’re proud to make a lasting difference. Because vision is more than seeing 20/20—it’s how you experience the world. And we’re here to help you or your loved one see clearly, comfortably, and confidently.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Certainly! Here’s your revised response with the Bible verse woven in meaningfully:
—
The most important lesson I’ve learned on this journey is that when we train people’s visual skills, we’re not just improving how they see—we’re changing their vision for their future. Vision impacts so much more than people realize: how they learn, how they move through the world, how they feel about themselves. I’ve seen firsthand how targeted vision therapy can open doors that once felt closed. Students who struggled in school begin to thrive, adults recovering from injury regain their confidence, and athletes reach new levels of performance.
One truth that continues to guide and inspire me comes from Proverbs 29:18: *“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”* This verse resonates deeply with the work we do. When vision—both physical and purpose-driven—is unclear or underdeveloped, people can feel stuck, frustrated, or lost. But when we help someone build strong visual foundations, we’re not just changing how they see—we’re helping them see *what’s possible*. They become happier, more confident, and more capable. They begin to step into the future with clarity, purpose, and hope. That transformation is what drives our work every day.
