Today we’d like to introduce you to Krissy P.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up I always knew I had a passion for makeup. As a child, I would watch my mother do her makeup in the mirror. She used blushes and lipsticks so many beautiful products I would just stare in Admiration! Every chance I got I played in her makeup. I would dress up and play in the mirror for hours.
I knew I loved the feeling of making myself feel beautiful and making others feel beautiful. My cosmetic line is a reflection of myself and my idea of What Glamour is when you look good you feel good.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road for me as an artist. In the beauty industry, things can be pretty competitive, I started doing makeup in 2013 I attended Paul Mitchell the school of Cincinnati. where I participated in makeup honors and make-up club, I learned so much here! I graduated with my cosmetology license in 2014 I thought I knew it all but I was humbled really quick. My first makeup job was at Ulta beauty I was around several artists that had been in the game a long time! They were always kind and knew so much about makeup and I’ve always been open to learning I’m like a sponge I absorb as much information as I can. When I began my career as a M.A.C Artist this was the real challenge with M.A.C you have to do an actual makeup interview I remember being so nervous!! I had to do a day makeup look then transition it into night which sounds so easy now but back then and on top of my nerves I was so scared! The hiring manager was always so kind to me she believed in me and knew I had potential. Once I was hired with M.A.C I had to go to basic training and still do Makeup certifications to keep me up to date on trends it was always really helpful. I always wanted Constructive criticism because it always helped me grow and I used everything that I learned and created my own cosmetic line.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started my free-lance makeup company Let’s get pretty shortly after graduating cosmetology school in 2014! I remember thinking of a name for my business and my sister helped me pick Let’s get pretty it just had a ring to it. I specialize in glamour and editorial make up; I also do special effects makeup editorial is my favorite because a little bit of makeup goes a long way! I always knew I wanted my own cosmetic line going into makeup stores I always said I’m going to start my own cosmetic line!! I was always so inspired. I started let’s get pretty cosmetics in 2020 which is a cruelty-free beauty line I have eye shadows, eyelashes, liquid lipstick kits, lip glosses, and highlighters and my goal is to keep building. I remember working 20 days straight to save money to buy my inventory and I did just that! Once I proved to myself that any and everything can be achieved with hard work! I am now a makeup instructor at new view models and talent, I’ve been going hard for my brand since we launched. If you have a talent a gift or something that you cannot stop thinking about, I encourage you to go for it the sky is the limit.
