Today we’d like to introduce you to Contrell Alford.
Contrell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey is rooted in resilience, growth, and a commitment to changing the narrative around both business and community. I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, where I learned early on the value of hard work, faith, and perseverance. Like many, my path wasn’t linear—I’ve faced challenges, setbacks, and moments that tested me. But those experiences ultimately shaped my perspective and drive.
I started my career in the automotive industry, where I worked my way up through dedication, consistency, and a commitment to delivering a different level of customer experience. Today, I serve as the General Manager at Kia of Bedford, where our mission is simple: to change the way people think and feel about purchasing a vehicle. We focus on transparency, service, and building long-term relationships—not just transactions.
At the same time, I founded Alford Property Group with a vision that’s deeply personal to me. Growing up, I saw firsthand how affordable housing was often associated with poor quality and limited care. I wanted to challenge that standard. My goal has been to provide clean, updated, and well-maintained homes while still keeping them affordable—proving that people deserve quality regardless of price point. Today, we own and manage multiple properties across Ohio, and we continue to grow with that same mission in mind.
Everything I do is driven by purpose—creating opportunities, building something meaningful for my family, and leaving a legacy my children can be proud of. My journey is a reflection of faith, discipline, and a belief that no matter where you start, you can build something impactful if you stay committed to growth and doing things the right way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and honestly, that’s been a big part of my growth. Like I mentioned, I’ve faced challenges that forced me to reflect, take accountability, and make real changes in my life.
Professionally, one of the biggest obstacles has been building trust. In the automotive industry, there’s often a negative perception, so leading a team that focuses on transparency and relationships takes consistent effort. In real estate, the challenge has been staying committed to providing quality affordable housing, even when it’s not always the easiest path financially.
On a personal level, growth itself has been a challenge—staying disciplined, continuing to evolve, and holding myself to a higher standard every day.
It hasn’t been easy, but those challenges are exactly what shaped my mindset and pushed me to build something meaningful.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Alford Property Group ?
Alford Property Group was built with a purpose, not just a business plan.
I own and manage residential rental properties, but what we really do is challenge the standard of what affordable housing looks like. Growing up, I saw how “affordable” often meant neglected, outdated, and treated like it didn’t matter. I made a commitment to change that.
Every property we take on is approached with intention—clean, updated, and something a family can actually feel proud to live in. Whether it’s new kitchens, fresh paint, or fully renovated spaces, we focus on creating homes, not just rentals.
What sets us apart is that we’re hands-on. I’m directly involved in the process—from acquisition to renovation to tenant experience—because this isn’t just an investment to me, it’s personal. I know what it feels like to want better, and not always have access to it.
I’m most proud of the fact that we’re building something that goes beyond real estate. We’re changing perception. We’re proving that affordability doesn’t have to come with compromise.
At the end of the day, it’s bigger than properties—it’s about impact, legacy, and doing things the right way.
How do you define success?
Success, to me, is growth and legacy.
It’s becoming a better man, leader, and father every day, and building something that outlives me. It’s being able to provide for my family, create opportunities for others, and make a real impact through the work I do.
In business, success is simple—taking care of people the right way. Whether it’s helping someone get into a vehicle or providing a quality home, it’s about doing things with integrity and consistency.
At the end of the day, success isn’t just what you earn—it’s what you build and who you impact along the way.
