Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Evans.
Hi Christine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We are a 3rd generation, family owned and operated vineyard in the countryside of Fairfield County in Amanda, Ohio. Our story began as our uncle started a vineyard three years before retiring in hopes of starting a tasting room. 6 months after he retired and moved onto the property to wait for his home and tasting room to be completed, he tragically passed away. Randy, his nephew, stepped in and started the process of finishing up the season’s work and fell in love with wine making. There are many in-between details, but as we say, the rest is history. We have been open to the public for almost 12 years and have found our niche as a small, friendly, laid-back space where you want to come spend some time on our porch to forget the cares of the day. You can learn more about us at www.clearcreek.wine.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part it has been a smooth road. Just very time consuming raising children and going back and forth to the vineyard and our home property until we moved onto the property in January of 2025. We’ve been slow at times, but we have gotten into the grove of what our niche is.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Simple. That’s what we want and that’s who we are.
For the past 12 years, Clearcreek Country Vineyard has been a place where people can slow down and enjoy a quiet country setting with great company and unique wines. We’re proud of the loyal, repeat customers who have become like family and the welcoming, friendly atmosphere we’ve built together. From our monthly Music Bingo nights to continually experimenting with new wine combinations, we love creating experiences that keep things fresh and fun. Above all, we want to be known as a relaxing, down-to-earth destination where good wine, good people, and a sense of community come together.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Shirley Evans. Wife of Gary who passed away before they could live their dream. Shirley stepped into the unknown, alone, after his death, to make Gary’s dream come to life.
Aly and Missy Adkins. Shirley’s nieces who spent 10 years helping create a wonderful atmosphere running our tasting room and welcoming our customers.
Our 4 children. Sacrificed time as a family graciously for 14 years to watch it grow into the amazing space it is today. They understand the legacy that Gary wanted to create and have come alongside to help, promote it and cheer us on.
Christine. Wife of Randy. Steadfast for and encouraging to Randy to stay the course and grow the business.
Randy. The Vintner. Without him, this would never have been possible. He sacrificed his free moments, his energy and family time to create this amazing space that, not only can our family enjoy, but our customers can enjoy, return to and bring their friends.
