Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Williams.
Hi Alexis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Compassion The Brand was birthed shortly after creating CLEgivesback-an acronym which stands for Compassion, Leadership, and Empathy; Which is an organization that gives back to the community and brings others together in a positive way through events and drives. I wanted another way to grab people’s attention so what better way than to express myself through fashion? That’s where CTB (Compassion the Brand) was thought of. My idea behind every piece is to put positive messages through symbols, words, and pictures on each product that I sell, and a portion of proceeds are donated towards CLEgivesback. Since starting my business, with the help of the community, we served over 500 people and sold to over 50 people. My goal is to continue serving others, selling items with a positive message, and eventually opening my storefront.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of most challenging things was having to learn how to balance my businesses, being in college, working a full-time job…on top of maintaining having time to myself. I often found myself trying to do everything at once which left me overwhelmed and unmotivated to continue my businesses but with a consistent schedule and making sure to have “me time”, I’m able to stay motivated.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Compassion the Brand?
Compassion The Brand was created for those who aren’t afraid to show their regular acts of kindness through fashion. In a mathematical world, 1+1=2 but in a community, 1+1=11…Together we can make a difference and protect one another!
A community-based streetwear brand; In association with CLEgivesback-an organization which works to assist homeless people and bring the community together through events and drives.
Compassion The Brand, LLC was established February 2019 with the ambition to spread positivity, unity, and protection through streetwear fashion.
I’m the head creative designer and I do everything from creating the logos, graphics, packaging/shipping orders, marketing/branding, and so on.
I’m proud of how much my brand has grown over the years. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think of new creations to make!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I often help people who want to start their business and they’re always discouraged and afraid to start because they say they don’t know where to start…I started based off an idea and faith. You’re never going to know everything you should know before starting anything so why not just go for it and learn while you’re going? *Secret? That’s what most business owners are doing because we don’t know everything. * Which brings me to my next point, always be ready to learn and be a student. You don’t know everything, allow others to help, and be willing to research on your own.
