Life & Work with Walker OG

Today we’d like to introduce you to Walker OG.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my musical journey as an adolescent playing the saxophone and writing songs of my own as a way to express myself. I remember how good it felt when I would let my friends hear my lyrics and their reaction to it was the positive reinforcement any young artist would’ve wanted to continue. My mom always encouraged me to follow my dreams no matter how big. It took some time to get to where I am today, but that motivation from everyone around me gave me that much more confidence to reach as high as I could.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. I believe the biggest obstacle I’ve had was gaining complete confidence in my growth. We all look forward and count on the success we want to achieve when pursuing our goals. I think the best part of getting to that point is the journey itself. Learning about yourself and going through those experiences of highs and lows makes the result that much sweeter.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a music artist. Everything from writing, producing, recording, and performing. I’m consistently growing my fan base as an artist which I am very proud of. I recently just released one of my favorite albums I have worked on to date – “Felt Like Dreaming”. I think what sets me apart from others is my willingness to experiment. I listen to the music of all genres and it reflects in my music.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
I try to read a variety of books on a daily basis. I believe in the power of words and obtaining knowledge is one of my keys to remaining creative. A few of my favorite authors are Daniel Coyle, Paulo Coelho, Deepak Chopra, and James Baldwin. These are just a few writers that have written pieces of works that have inspired me in my own art.
