Today we’d like to introduce you to Judah Early.
Hi Judah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
While in high school, my older brother gave me a camera, and that’s where I discovered a love for taking pictures. Fast forward, I’m married, I have a family, and need a side hustle, so I decided to try photography since it seemed to come naturally. I bought a camera off of Craiglist in 2012 and I’ve been shooting ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, I struggled with the learning curve from amateur to professional. One of the biggest struggles was knowing what to charge. Knowing what equipment to buy. And wrapping my mind around editing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I focus on a handful of ascpects of photography. I specialize in portraits, public profiles, family photos, weddings, engagements, and event photography. About a year ago, I began to offer videography as well. I’m most proud of the experience I provide and the quality of work I produce. I’ve had many clients who were uncomfortable to be in front of a camera, but you would never know that from the results of the session.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Most certainly. In this business, you have to take gigs that you may not fully know if you are prepared for. But it’s one the best ways to grow and learn. Failure is not a person; it’s an event. So, I’ve taken gigs that have had me up the night before. But when it was over, I was glad that I did it because of what I’ve learned.
