Life & Work with Dwight Barnes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dwight Barnes.

Hi Dwight, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Columbus, Ohio 1 -23- 1984, and at that time my parent’s address was 2301 Pine Crest this pattern of observation continued throughout my life. So early on in life, I have believed things happen for us as a way we reflect how we observe. As early as middle school I became interested in art and philosophy. In high school, I majored in fine arts along with attending a career center for graphic printing and was awarded a scholarship for Columbus College of Art and Design. I graduated majoring in Media Design. I am a photographer at heart and a graphic designer by trade. I strive to be a director of photography for the film. But as an artist, I really love to illustrate and paint despite all the technology advancements in the creative realm. Soon after graduating college, I worked as a teacher for thirteen years from recreation sports centers to living abroad teaching English in South Korea, China and Vietnam. During my time overseas I continued to pursue the never-ending ability to create and allow the environment to influence new pieces of art. Through my travels and developing my ability to adapt in new places I have learned that “listening” and reflecting moment to moment allows one to absorb the experience of being present. Traveling world teaches everyone to make the unfamiliar familiar and then nothing will be unfamiliar which allows you to be comfortable where ever you are. In most recent times I have established my own company Elusive Exclusive Media produces content and material for clients and businesses to further my passion and create a career in the direction that my life has led me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is as smooth as the contrast to other roads you may have traveled. As for a childhood, I would say the era I grew up in was perfect in living through the most influential time of technology and entertainment. As for growing up with the family, I was a part of quite the opposite. At a very early age, I grew up with only my father until we became homeless around third grade. To say it lightly life then was like living through every chapter of the D.A.R.E. program. To say the least without making this a negative story about abuse and neglect, I learned what was right to do with myself from experiencing all the wrong ways to live. It wasn’t till around freshman year in High school I was adopted by my stepmom’s mother. From then on, the only way was up, and with just a little support like the size of a seed, one can grow a forest’s full potential. I have learned that family can be anybody that cares about your health and supports your dreams.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I want to share something dear to the human experience from a developing perspective of various subjects to collectively understand the very things the intellectual and wise teachers from present to ancient. I would like to share a unification of Philosophy, Physiology, Theology, Esoteric, and Psychology to produce a short attempt to produce a short passage of wisdom in which may help someone understand the ability to live as a spirit experiencing a soul. In all the most highly regarded texts and beliefs as humans, we all strive for the same passion of living in a way that releases of us of fear. Through all the things we learn we are nurturing the flavor and function of how our mind works. The food is our mood. Breathing directly affects every aspect of the moment. The things we feel are simply sensations of chemical reactions in our body like digestion. The phrase “when you think don’t feel, and when you feel don’t think”. Your mind is an organ that has no ability to feel but is the thing telling you what feelings are. If you think and then have a feeling it is a manifestation of a chemical that then is defined by the brain. If you feel a wonderful sensation like love and then it dissipates from the mind trying to attempt an explanation the experience of feeling is ruined. Each organ creates a chemical for each emotion and your brain defines it by the vocabulary you have developed. A small vocabulary will limit the sensations the human can experience. By changing the word use, we change the meaning, by changing the meaning it changes its purpose. Self-control is the end-all to every subject of study and practice. In the case of what is positive and negative in life, we should turn our attention to “neutrality” of the circle that encapsulates the duality illuminating the trinity of life. So, in conclusion, practice to Be one, be-all, then be none at all.

What’s next?
Plans for the future would be to join and participate in the art community locally and globally. I hope to work towards writing /shooting a feature-length film and entering a film festival. I hope by the end of the year I can publish two books I have been working on. One is a coloring book of many surreal and abstract illustrations and the other is a book of creative writing filled with stories, quotes, and ideas. I hope to be able to join a film production team and allow myself to be able to take my ideas to the next stage of creative development.
