Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Clark.
Hi Claire, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
After graduating high school, I attended Ohio University for a semester. I love OU but didn’t love college. Fortunately, I have very supportive parents that encouraged me to pursue learning a trade! I always loved all things beauty but never thought of it as a career so thankfully my parents’ support gave me the push I needed! I attended The Aveda Institute of Columbus and received my cosmetology license. After cosmetology school, I worked at a larger salon in Dublin where I continued to grow as a stylist. In 2018 I went on a mission trip to La Libertad, El Salvador with my church and it made me want to step away from doing hair to pursue more of a service-focused career. After being away from the beauty industry for a little while I missed being behind the chair so I decided to start my own business! I am now the owner and operator of Silque Salon in Westerville and I also freelance for a bridal beauty team called Le Rêve makeup and hair.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of my biggest struggles was feeling like I wasn’t doing enough for the community, after coming back from my mission trip. I didn’t realize that doing hair, I had an opportunity to serve my community and love my clients well and make a difference that way!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in balayage and blonding, grey blending, and bridal hair. I love continuing my education so I am always taking new classes to grow as a hairstylist!
