Inspiring Conversations with Jeffery Chaddock of Envisage Wealth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffery Chaddock.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was adopted as a baby – 6 months of age. I grew up in Belpre Ohio, of modest means. I am gay, dyslexic, and colorblind, so my whole life I have felt different. In Boy Scouts, I quickly discovered capitalism…. we sold boxes of chocolates for $5, and rather than go door to door to sell the boxes I elected to go to the hospital during business hours to sell the chocolates. I was able to go room to room and often sell 5 boxes for each room. This was the seed that was planted to understand thinking big and thinking different than others.

Fast forward to college, where I attended Ohio University. I continued finding business opportunities such as renting VCR machines and tanning beds to Sorority’s. My most successful venture was selling exam survival kits for parents to send their children. In college, I also started becoming interested in and learning about buying and selling stocks. The motive was to have money work harder for me than I did to earn it. In parallel of helping myself, I have found a passion in helping others discover the wonders of compounding interest. The mission of helping others is the common denominator for what I have been doing the past 38 years.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my favorite Matras is: if something is extraordinary, it is probably not easy” and that is true for my journey as well. Periods of time like 2008 (financial crisis), provide major learning, and extreme maturity and empathy that was not as strong before the crisis. In general, each bend and turn in the journey, while often negative at the time, has played a central role in shifitng priorities and development.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has always been on my side, however, a combination of luck AND mentorship from others has been the driving force for success in each and every initiative. I personally do not believe luck alone provides for success.
