Today we’d like to introduce you to Fidel Gutierrez Sanchez.
Hi Fidel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My company officially started back in February 2017. At the time, my father and I were out of work because the construction company we were working for had shut down for the winter. That’s when my dad came up with the idea—why not start our own business? And that’s exactly what we did.
In the early years, we worked primarily as subcontractors for a larger company that needed roofing work. It was a grind, but it gave us valuable hands-on experience. Then, during the COVID slowdown, I decided to pivot a bit. I took a position as a sales rep for a roofing company to learn more about the process of working with insurance companies and to build my skills in sales and customer service. That experience gave me a deeper understanding of how to help homeowners navigate insurance claims and get full roof replacements.
About three years ago, my wife encouraged me to take the next big step—get my contractor’s license so I could start bidding on my own jobs. I took her advice, got licensed, and I haven’t looked back since. Since then, I’ve been working directly with homeowners, offering retail roofing services and guiding them through the insurance process to secure new roofs, gutters, and siding.
My ultimate goal is not just to provide a good life for my wife and child, but also to support my parents. My dad has done so much for me throughout my life, and I’ve always carried the belief that one day, I’d repay him for everything. This business is more than just a job—it’s my way of building a future for my family and honoring the sacrifices that got us here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
After doing this for about eight years now, you start to learn a few things—not just about the work itself, but about yourself too. There’s this great guy I follow on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok who talks about personal growth and how to better sell yourself. One thing he said really stuck with me: “This journey is an emotional roller coaster.” And it’s true.
Some months you’re riding high—leads are coming in, deals are closing, and everything feels like it’s falling into place. But then there are the lows. The days where just getting out of bed and looking for new business feels like the hardest part. You’re out there handing out mailers, sticking flyers behind doors, knocking on doors in neighborhoods, and sometimes it feels like no one’s responding. Days or even weeks might go by without anything solid to show for it, and you start to question whether all the time and effort is worth it.
But then, almost out of nowhere, that grind pays off. A job lands in your lap. A homeowner calls you back. You get a new inspection booked. That one lead turns into something real. And that’s when you remember—every bit of the hustle builds up to something. It’s just about staying consistent and believing that the effort will pay off.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At our company, we offer roofing, siding, and gutter services—whether it’s at a retail price for homeowners or through their insurance if there’s been storm-related damage. If your home has been hit by hail, wind, or any severe weather, we can help you get a full replacement through your home insurance carrier, often for just the cost of your deductible.
What sets us apart is that we’re not just your typical contractor—we’re your neighborhood contractor. We specialize in roofing, siding, and gutters, but we also take care of the smaller exterior repairs like trim work or minor fixes that other companies might overlook. While many people know us for roofing, we actually do just as much siding and gutter work—if not more.
We’re a family-owned business, started back in 2017 by me and my father. My brother is part of our sales team, and my wife helps lead our canvassing and media group. That family dynamic is part of what makes us different—it brings a level of trust, teamwork, and dedication that you don’t always find in this industry.
Our biggest strength, beyond quality work, is customer service. We focus on building real relationships with our clients because homeowners don’t just buy from companies—they buy from people they know, like, and trust. That’s the kind of experience we aim to deliver: honest, reliable, and always available to help.
If you’re reading this and have experienced a recent storm—hail, wind, or even a tornado—don’t wait. A lot of homeowners don’t realize that they may be eligible for a full roof, siding, or gutter replacement through their insurance, with little to no out-of-pocket cost beyond their deductible. It might sound too good to be true, but it’s real. And you don’t have to be afraid of dealing with your insurance carrier—you’re their customer, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
One of the things that has really helped me improve my sales, grow my business, and stay sharp overall is listening to a podcast by Adam Bensman—also known as The Roof Strategist.
He shares daily tips on personal growth, door-to-door sales, and how to succeed in this industry without burning yourself out. Whether it’s how to close more deals, stay motivated, or build better habits, his advice has made a big difference for me.
If you’re in roofing or any type of sales and looking to level up, I definitely recommend checking him out.
