Today we’d like to introduce you to Myles Zernik-Traxler.
Hi Myles, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
When you think of Forensic Files (if you know it that is) you think of the soothing voice of Peter Thomas (Rest in Peace). I know I can’t be the only one when I say that he puts me to sleep every night (in a good way!) and that I have seen every episode about a hundred times. I watched it so often in fact, that I started to realize there were holes in the stories, pieces that these 25-minute episodes couldn’t cover and that gave me an idea – start a podcast! In 2019 I started Forensic Myles, a podcast that updates and fills in the holes of the original Forensic Files cases. It was fascinating and exciting to learn all the stories that they had left out, but I realized I wanted to have more creativity in my work, so I decided to launch a True Crime inspired clothing brand – Forensic Myles the Brand. In the summer of 2020, I put the podcast on hold to focus on my brand, I had the perfect opportunity to really get the idea off the ground, and since then I have been able to create an amazing community filled with true crime junkies and Halloween spooksters! It has been an amazing ride.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Although it might sound easy – podcasting is no joke! Not only do you need to have quality mics, but there are things you forget about – like having a Husky and how her howls might not be so cute on the recording.
Starting a business from scratch is always challenging, and there are hurdles you have to jump that no one tells you about.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Forensic Myles?
Forensic Myles is for true crime, Halloween, and spooky lovers who are looking for cute items they can wear every day. When I launched my brand, I had never seen anything like it. Most items for spooky lovers were crude, skulls, not something you can wear every day. That’s why I kept my designs simple, classy, and perfect for the true-crime lover. We are best known for our Basically a Detective Crewnecks and we just launched our custom sleeve designs as well!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
True Crime isn’t going anywhere, in fact, with new social media channels like TikTok, I think it will continue to grow. We are always fascinated with how the human brain works!
