Hidden Gems: Meet Angela Natoli of Chiropractic and Functional Neurology Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Natoli.

Hi Angela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I became a chiropractic patient as a young child. My parents were always supporters of holistic health care, owning a health food store themselves. As I was growing up in grade school, I developed a sudden case of severe vertigo that never really went away. After seeing many specialists, I noticed chiropractic care seemed to be the most beneficial without the side effects of medications. So, I decided to get a doctorate in chiropractic and study healthcare for myself. While I was at school, I had several mentors that truly made me love the neurological side of chiropractic care, propelling me to pursue a diplomate in functional neurology. Now I treat patients with a wide variety of health concerns, and I especially love helping the vertigo patients recover!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Vertigo was a very large part of my life from the age of 14 on. With numerous daily episodes, every single task I completed was basically an obstacle. When I finally made it to chiropractic school, there were many days I was unable to even sit up in a chair to take notes. I was lucky to have great classmates, many of which would help in any way they could. Through a lot of perseverance and treatment from my doctors/teachers, I was able to graduate salutatorian.

While in school, I had several chiropractic neurology doctors who served as not only my teachers but eventually as my treating doctors and mentors. The doctor I was closest to was Dr. John Donofrio. He not only helped me become a doctor teaching intensive board review material but then helped me to stay a doctor by treating my most severe medical conditions that very well could have ended my career, then became my go-to mentor for questions about any difficult patient. He was truly the most brilliant person I have ever known.

I worked as an associate doctor out of school. After three years of service to this practice, we parted ways. As I was unpacking my office, I received a phone call. The call read “John Donofrio,” which I almost did not answer because my hands were full. I picked up and heard his thunderous voice, “Angela! How are you?” Laughing, I replied, “great doc, I just left my job.” He said great! I’m calling to ask you to work with me. It’s meant to be!”

Dr. Donofrio asking me to work with him was the highest honor I’ve ever received. Before this was finalized, he suddenly passed away. I lost my doctor, my mentor, my teacher, and my friend. In the midst of the sadness. I opened a clinic on bare bones. Within a few years, I am in shock at the growth and the people who are brought into my life making this business a huge success!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We treat patients of all ages ranging from general health and wellness to major neurological issues. We offer a wide variety of treatments including chiropractic care, functional neurological rehabilitation, massage, dry needling, physical therapy, decompression therapy, cold laser, electrical muscle stimulation therapy, among others. We also have a strong focus on nutrition through healthy eating plans and supplements. If advanced labs are needed, we can offer blood labs, as well as testing for vitamin deficiencies, cortisol testing, gut microbiome, and food intolerances.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I am your typical middle child of three sisters! A lot peacemaker, a little bit instigator. I could often be found hanging out with the class clowns because I absolutely love to laugh. I was a good student, perfectionist, and naturally love art and animals.
