Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Big Heff Taylor.
Quincy Big Heff , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Started with my crew the 2nd Generation Ohio Playaz with Finch, Trife, Mz Fin, became a intern working with Bone Thugs & Harmony, Started working doing promotions with Landspeed Records, Co Founder of the Ohio Hip Hop Awards in 2006, Became the VP of the Nerve Djs in 2010, Started working at Def Jam Records, 300 Ent, and Epic Records. Created the Streets Most Wanted Tour, Modus Distribution, and my award winning Big Heff Radio Show in between. 2025 became the President of DJ Connect Pro and Chief Marketing Officer of Toyz Electronics where we do partnerships with Colleges and Universities and create relationships with corporations.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth ride. In the midwest there are not a lot of companies or opportunities when you want to get into the music industry. I wanted to build platforms or create the opportunities so I started to building the platforms and opportunities I wanted to see. Take the artist careers to the next level has been something that stuck with me through my career. One of the biggest things that I had to overcome was being accountable. That made me focus and lock in as I was doing the Ohio Hip Hop Awards. I wanted to focus on building our artists up and make sure to resurrect the Ohio Music Scene. There were not very many opportunities for A&R’s, Artist Development, in my city. One of the biggest lesson I learned was the structure and day to day regiment it to make a project successful working at 300Ent where we created some household names with Megan Thee Stallion and Tee Grizzley.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
In 2025, Ive formed some new partnerships with tech companies. Im currently the President of DJ Connect Pro, its a influencer and artist services app to help artists that are in discovery. The App is founded by Coop & Dj Ryan Wolf and has major influencers as partners like DJ Scream, DJ Enuff, DJ Pharris, OG Ron C, and more. Im also the Chief Marketing Officer of Toyz Electronics |Dah Varsity AI. Its a startup that’s based out of Carnegie Mellon University but we have an office at Case Western Reserve University at the Thinkbox. We just completed the Jumpstart Trailblazer Software Accelerator. Currently we have programming at Univ of Syracuse, Univ of Michigan, University of Cincinnati, Duke University, and Univ of Chicago. Im excited on the things we are working on. We have a marketplace where we partner with colleges and universities along with corporations for workforce readiness. We do this through gamification which gives it a creative spin. I am excited during this process because I feel like this aligns with who I am as a person.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
So my first movie came out in 2023, which we filmed in 2022 called. The Capp, its out on Amazon Prime, Tubi, Mega Plus, and more. Im currently working on a new movie called “Surf Club”, it was written by Dion Hatcher and directed by Kyle Hammonds for Channel x Productions. The film stars new actors Smerco, Traffic, Teshawn, & Day as inner city kids moving to the suburbs and all the fun that comes with the culture. Im also in the works on a documentary about my life in music. The Film is being shot by Dave Velo Stewart. Im also on my 3rd book “For The Record” that I co wrote with my entertainment lawyer Debbie Egel. Its a current how to guide for getting started in the music business. we plan on starting a podcast via Revolt. And a For The Record book tour. Movie Soundtracks, a new DJ Ryan Wolf project slated for this year, Alylah Divine project this year. I also have a new radio show called Big Heff’s A&R List on WOVU 95.9Fm. it airs on Fridays at 7pm est. The Big Heff Radio Show is still going as well, we received a Outstanding Leadership Award from Tino and the Wont Quit Foundation and in 2024 we received Best Radio Show at the Legend Awards. Big Thanks to the team, Eboni, Brandy Marie, DJ Dreem, Hashtag, DJ Johnny O, Toxic And, and T Wrex. we are syndicated in 10 markets. Its been a heavy Capital Structure type of year.
