Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanté Orr.
Hi Vanté, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started getting into directing around 2012 when I lost my job on a technicality. Instead of going to look for another 9-5, I decided to put my energy into something I loved doing, and since I was able to take a broadcast class in high school it gave me a little insight into the creative world.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been far from smooth. There have been some pretty high moments but we all know life happens. Some of the struggles of just getting everything to be consistent. Also just being heard. Sometimes it’s frustrating when you know you’re creating something that could be life-changing but it just hasn’t landed on the right eyes yet or as many eyes as you’d like. It’s an ever-changing field as well, so keeping up with something that literally changes Every time you blink can be challenging as well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist through and through. I started off doing music at 12-13 and just stuck with it ever since. Especially the writing process. I’m most known for being a video creator. The thing I have to say I’m most proud of is the places where I’ve been able to go just from diving into these things. Editing a video for the rock group Limp Bizkit I would still say would have to be at the top of that list. It was when I was still getting my feet wet and to work on something for someone, I grew up watching on tv was the motivation I needed to stick with it early on.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The drive. The drive you have is what’s going to make you keep going even when sometimes you don’t feel like you can. And it’s the one thing that can be taught.
