Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Allison.
Hi Ashleigh, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My Interest in Photography started my junior year of high school at Fort Hayes. My parents knew I was going to take this class seriously, so they bought me a canon rebel t6. I didn’t end up using the camera for class that year, but I knew I wanted to start. So fast forward I ended up learning basic skills from one of my mentors at church. Once I felt confident, I took pictures for the church service once a month. Now I expanded my skills and knowledge to do event photography, studio, and outdoors! My photography teacher (Ms. Weidenbusch) was the first person to see real potential in me. She encouraged me to keep going always. She would analyze and give critique when needed in order for me to grow.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve struggled with Confidence and Comparing my growth to others. Confidence is a big thing with photography. If you can’t trust yourself, you can’t trust your work. There’s so many artists out there, you have to really sit back and think what makes you unique. How does my work best represent me?
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Photographer and a Model. I started doing Photography professionally in 2020 my senior year in high school. My classmates and other 2020 graduates didn’t get to take senior pictures or prom pictures. So, I started taking senior photos for anyone that trusted my skill. I got signed to NV Models and Talent in January 2022. I’ve always wanted to be a model. In January 2020 was the first time an agency thought I could model. That year the pandemic hit, so I never got to move forward with that agency. I like being behind or in front of the camera as long as I get to show my creativity. What sets me apart is my ability to flow in any room I’m in. Confidence and trusting yourself and your craft keep you afloat.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Personally, I don’t think luck has played a part. I know I’ve been blessed with many skills and talents. Those skills and talents require seasons of growth. One day I could be doing my best. One day I could be limiting myself. It’s all about self-awareness. Any profession or lifelong career requires growth. You have to be able to grow even when it’s uncomfortable.
