Conversations with Tyjah Hisle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyjah Hisle.

Hi Tyjah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out always being the one to take pictures of my friends or different objects just by request. I never wanted to do photography; I didn’t believe I had the eye for it. As time progressed and years passed, people would tell me I have a gift for it, but I still never saw it. When my grandmother and other family members passed, I would go through pictures and see that there’s just not enough. I wished I would have had somebody to just be there and capture the moments. I started to want to be that for other people. I bought a camera and decided to try it out, and I ended up falling deeply in love with photography. I wanted to capture people at their highest, at their happiest, at their most memorable times. I wanted to create something they can have forever.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been a rocky road. A lot of self-doubt and comparing. I would compare myself to other photographers so much that I would discourage myself and just want to quit because I felt my work just wasn’t good enough. I’ve actually quit before. It was an off-season, and I wasn’t getting booked for anything. Because of my support system, I picked it and myself back up and decided to keep going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer/ content creator. I specialize mostly in portraits and street photography, but I have been expanding in all areas of photography. I’m mostly proud of my growth. I’ve grown a lot in my craft in such a small amount of time. The thing that sets me apart from the others is my humbleness.

What are your plans for the future?
I am looking to expanding my business. Right now, under RayVision Media, it’s mostly photography & videography, but that’s not all that I do. I am also a writer, and I have been working on some projects that I can finally release to the public.
