Conversations with Tiesha Mathis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiesha Mathis.

Hi Tiesha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion has always involved fashion and styling, but it was a journey to develop my own sense. As a young girl, I was always creative and talented at many things, but I still hadn’t tapped into my inner confidence to execute what was necessary.

I started as a model in Cincinnati, in which I worked with various brands in different aspects such as runway, print, and video. As I am still a model, I knew that I wanted my own brand in which I could sell clothing and cater to others in other aspects.

I officially launched MobChic in 2021 as an online boutique, but it evolved into much more. I began to create digital content for others, assist in establishing brand identities, marketing, styling, and even creative directing. I’ve worked with many brands such as makeup artists, clothing, estheticians, skincare, and even branching out into the healthcare industry when it comes to branding and marketing.

The journey has been challenging, but rewarding in many ways. My brand is constantly being recognized and I’m excited to see the ways in which it can evolve.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has not been smooth, but there’s not a moment that has made me want to quit.

I taught myself how to start a business, build a website, learn about taxes, business credit and the list goes on.

As a business owner you learn that it is impossible to know everything, but prior to starting I researched for months in an attempt to lessen my challenges/mistakes and it has helped tremendously. There were times when I felt confident in my business, and times where I had absolutely no idea if I was doing anything right.

I consider myself to be a tenacious individual so I’m still here :-).

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aside from by business, I work in Human Resources and I am a Regional Recruiter.

This transfers to my business in a way that allows me to connect and interact with others in personable ways.

I’ve learned over the years that it is simply not enough to just talk with others, but providing an experience leaves an impression.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the creative industry within Cincinnati. There are so many sectors, and talented individuals that tend to come together and create, and I think that’s beautiful.

There’s not enough vegan food, and I don’t like the fact that restaurants are closed on Monday lol 🙂
